Anyone have a radar detector set up they'd like to share?
I usually hide mine behind the rear view mirror but the Ram has those
sensor things there.
This is what I ended up with but I'm not really sure I like it. I still need to hide the wires.

Just some friendly advice... most police departments use laser instead of radar. Not all do, and some smaller departments still use radar because its cheaper than laser.

Although some "radar" detectors also detect laser, they aren't nearly as reliable.

Radar systems are constantly turned on and sending out the radar signal to detect speed. Its pretty easy for a quality radar detector to pick up on that signal and alert you to the use of radar ahead, allowing you time to slow down.

A laser system is only turned on when the officer pulls the trigger, and only stays on for the amount of time that the trigger is pulled. When I ran laser, I would watch for a car that appeared to be speeding, aim the laser and pull the trigger for about 1 second (or less) to capture the speed... That was it.

A couple of things to consider about a detector of laser speed enforcement...
The laser is a very narrow beam... only a couple of feet wide at a thousand feet from the gun. This is much different from radar, that casts a wide beam of signal out that is easily picked up by a detector. Its highly unlikely for you to get notified of a laser signal until the officer has already tagged YOUR car. At that point, its just giving you advance warning to slow down for the ticket.

The other thing to consider is that a radar gun is always on, so you get a more positive warning from your detector. A laser gun is only on as long as I pull the trigger, so you get a brief blip of a warning. Those brief blips are often ignored by most drivers.

The best bet is to simply slow down. You don't get there much faster by speeding.

The next best bet is to simply pay attention and learn where officers sit. There were only certain places along the road that allowed a safe place to sit, a long enough straightaway to observe and estimate speeds and a safe area in which to effect a stop. I would bet that officers sit in roughly the same spot most of the time.

Waze is a good application to rely on other drivers to spot and scout out police officers as well.

All this said... your best bet is to save those couple hundred dollars and slow down a little bit. Arrive safe!

I used an escort 8500x50 in my G8 and loved it, but like said above, when you get hit with laser its already too late..
With that being said I now just use the speed limit warning feature on the factory nav and have it set to tell me when I am going about 10 mph over the speed limit. Its very effective when the speed limit switches from 45 to a 35 zone and I didn't realize it. The lady in the radio reminds me to slow the hell down

I've got mine mounted just below my mirror with a blendmount knockoff and wiring runs off of the mirror harness. I'll try and snag a picture tonight.

As for its effectiveness... I've had the same Escort 8500 since highschool and it has saved me more than a few times. Most of my driving is done on the highway in the DFW are in under the speed limit rush hour traffic. It does pick up most of the police officers hanging out in the median with their radar gun just pointed at traffic. Like other have said though, if they have a laser gun, it is usually too late once the detector picks it up. The one ticket I have gotten was an officer hidden in an alley with a laser gun.

Also within the past few years, it has been detecting cars with blind spot monitoring and active cruise control. I guess some cars overlap police radar frequencies. I understand some newer detectors are supposed to filter this out.

So to make a long story short I guess, I like mine still. It's great for open highway where it can still see farther than I can. Driving around town in traffic it is pretty useless these days.

I don't have a pic but I use an Escort 9500ix. I only use it on road trips. I use a suction cup that is mounted just below the mirror. It has warned me many times as 99 percent of police on interstates use Ka band. The detector coupled with Waze is my way of staying informed on road trips.

I use a wireless Escort that is mounted to the bottom of the mirror. No wires, no unsightly suction cups. Most people don't even know it's there.

Nice.
I've been happy with the Valentine One in the past but I've been thinking about picking up an Escort Max 360 based on reviews.

I'd love to see pics of your set up if you get a chance.

My 9500ix paid for itself I'm pretty sure on the second day I had it lol. I have it mostly for all the highway driving I've been doing recently and I love it. It picked up a cop shooting radar on the other side of a town that I was driving through.

lazers are not in wide use and never will be until the Fed subsidize them that are far too costly for department to have multiples of the, as they can with radar with more and more people no buying radar detectors they are still a more viable option for departments
