They’re starting to go on back order now. We did them like crazy when parts were released but now we can only order like 7 every 20 days or something.

Got mine done last week. All they did was put a rubber bumper in the actuator linkage. Thus not letting it pull back too far. Simple cheap fix that should work well as time goes by

Has anyone done this recall fix themselves? Looks simple enough. I'd like to do it myself but wondering what part to use.

It’s a recall part so the only place to get it would be a dealer I imagine.

You may be able just to make something. It’s not a very complicated piece of rubber.

I just ordered one for $15 the site said they had 5 in stock so we will see. I know it is a under $1 part, but the hassle of taking the truck to the dealer for them to install it was worth $15 for me. I used the part number listed above. Once I get it in I'll post back if it was the right part according to the video.

So, I am a new member to Ram family so I am unsure if I should be impressed by Ram's willingness to recall issues and fix them or if I should be concerned.

I have owned my 2017 Ram (8th year of production for the 4th gen model) since February of this year and already have 2 recalls out for my truck and now potentially a 3rd.

In the combined previous 23years, neither my 2006 Ford F150 or my 1994 GMC Sierra were affected by a single recall.

Is this just that FCA takes more responsibility for their known issues or does the Ram really have that many problems compared to other manufacturers?

Are all of the other manufacturers having a similar number of recalls?

I love my truck, but this does cause me some slight concern.

I do not judge a vehicle entirely based on recalls. It is not at all uncommon for manufacturers to drag their feet on dealing with a known defect by issuing a recall. Often it takes the feds to force a recall as with Chevy with their ignition switch problems and Ford with its deadly Explorer. Even my Chevy diesel pickup has had a recall out on the airbags for 3 years and GM will not fix my truck as they don't have the parts - actually they hope that the customers will die off first.

I used the part number in the post above and got it here. https://www.stockwiseauto.com/mopar-68448027aa It's about $15 with shipping for a $4 part that can be found out of stock other places for under $1 but the shipping is the same. Mine should be here thursday. I can verify for certain if it is the right part.
