I am looking at a '03 2500 turbo diesel and was wondering if it has any major problems. At least for that generation or year specifically. Anything i should look for or feel for while test driving. It has ....

    - 5.9L 24v Turbo Diesel
    -163k M
    - AT Tires
    - Single stack exhaust

Everything else looks stock, im not to sure and this is my first "Truck" truck. along with that i was wondering was would be the best tuner for MPGs.

check for unusual smoking. a puff of black when its started or under hard acceleration is normal. huge black clouds are not. some goes for white/grey smoke. you might see a little for a few seconds when its first started in the cold, but any decent clouds or white smoke when driving is not good. check for blow by. make sure the trans shifts good and holds lockup (assuming its auto). oil pans are known to rot and leak, make sure its in good shape. smell the oil for diesel. check the front end for play. other then that look it over like you would any other car or truck.
