Slight miss or just the natural of it?

I've had a ton of issues with my truck lately. Rod bearings were shot, and the warranty company replaced my motor. Awesome, but I'm a little paranoid now. As you can imagine any slight off feeling drives me nuts now!

Anyway, this engine is the 5.9 360. Do these motors naturally run with a slight feeling of a miss? My other motor did the same and so did my 97 5.2. I imagine it's just how it is. Sitting here in my truck now as it idles, I can feel a slight shake. Very slight. Kinda hard to explain. Timing chain stretched alittle? I've heard that could be it. This motor has about 99 thousand miles on it I was told. Just want to ease my mind a little.

Also, while I'm at it I hear a tick on the passenger side. Sounds like an electrical arc kind of tick. Might be my exhaust manifold. I have yet to check anything.

Also, what can I do to prevent a rod bearing failure again? They were all bad in the last motor. (96+ thousand miles on that one).

I'm pushing 194k miles on a stock 5.9l, water pump in last 20k miles need to replace thermostat housing gasket but still running well, doesnt burn oil. Also replaced passenger side valve cover gasket.

if you think the plugs may be arcing or a slight miss,
you could change your plugs, rotor button, distributor cap and wires, along with pcv valve.
It fixed my random misfire.

I'm not sure how far they freshened up the motor before they put it in. They did gaskets, oil coolant and the pcv. Looks like new plugs and wires too. Like I said I haven't looked into it too far.

It's possible you have a slight miss but my truck shakes a little just sitting there too and I dont have any misses.

That's why I figured maybe it was just the way it was.

They may be mostly computer controlled but they're pretty old school at the same time. However I can't tell you for sure whether or not it's normal because my truck is not stock and I do my own work and I can be sketchy sometimes :roflsquared:

171k, original engine and mine has always had a little idle bump. Never gotten rid of it, double roller timing chain helped a little tho. Doesn't bother me anymore. Lol

Im thinking ill replace the timing chain. I'm going to have to do the plenum plate upgrade as well. I did it on the previous motor, but this one most likely needs it. Oh well, i like working on it!
