first off, mine are almost shot at 29k miles. :mad3:
my 72 year old dad put the first 28k miles on it.

went out to the local PD range today for qualifying, drove though a mowed grassy field. Sheriff told me an hour later "you got a flat" - yup right front is D-shaped. I always thought it was ******** for them to put craptastic street tires on a 4x4 to begin with. A stick about the diameter of a pencil punctured this one.
And on top of that, the dealer must have put them on with the impact and just held the trigger for a few minutes when they rotated them last - I TWISTED the head of the lug wrench almost 90 degrees trying to break on of the lugs loose. :mad3:

finally got it broke loose and changed, and got to do a little shooting.

Now the quest for tires is on, just had to vent about the poor choice of rubber by dodge.

They aren't still putting SRAs on these trucks are they? I couldn't make my SRAs on my 1500 stick to wet pavement, I cannot imagine what they would have done in the winter.

I threw Toyo Open Country's on my 1500 and was very happy with them. On my 3500 I'm running BFG for the summer, and Cooper for winters and have had good results for both.

Goodyear sucks for trucks... it's that simple.

I had to swap mine before 29k as well because they were getting dangerous on ice. Goodyear makes crap product in my opinion. I think most people would be fine paying a few hundred more for a truck that is 30-60K I know the HD's come with michelins or BFG's but the 1500 all I have every seen stock is a form of Wrangler all junk.

I am pretty sure they still put SRA's on 17 inchers and HP's on 20's for 1500's. Options on 2500 are michelin LTX and BFG Rugged Trail. Options on 3500 are same on SRW but I think DRW are General tires.

I hate the stock tires too. I can't wait to replace them. No traction in the winter. no traction in the summer as soon as you leave the pavement.

On topic tho, I got rid of my HPs at 19k and replaced them with some Nitto Terras.

Stock tires have two concerns. 1) cost to the manufacturer 2) low rolling resistance for the MPG testing.

Durability and traction don't enter into that equation.

To me the hp aren't actually as bad as I had heard. It seemed like the fortera sl that come standard on the R/T 22s were actually worse in the rain. However both suck in the mud

I have had 1 or 2 scary moments in the rain, but other than that no problems.

FWIW, look at Cooper AT3's. I just bought a 2011 3/4 ton, and had the AT3's put on. Awesome tread, ride nice.

I had no problems with my stockers, only kept them for 7k miles though before buying my spies and BFG AT's. Hell, I drove home for Christmas of 2010 from vegas to Washington during the week or two that the west coast, mostly California, was getting hit by that snow storm. Had to drive through some big park or something in north cali that had got a good beating the night before with zero issue's. Couple inches of snow, packed and all while going 45+ and I never lost traction. Now some other people however....well they made me pucker cause they couldn't drive 25 to save their lives.

my boss loves his. In fact, last year he had me search for a set for him. Worked a deal with a customer of mine for his tires. Bossman got 78K on his Crapyears.

In fact, he's looking for another set for his brother.
