Hi, I have a 2005 1500 with the 5.7 if that matters. I just had carrier and pinion bearings changed.

While driving at say 45 or so, and letting off of the gas completely the truck feels like the rear end slides right. It's not the rear though, it's the front, but it slides right. The steering does not pull at all. When I get back on the gas quickly the truck pulls back to the left in a similar fashion as it does on letting off. I know this may not be very clear, but I hope someone has experienced this and can assist.

Please Help.

Find a dirt area, where the tread of the tires shows up, they don't need to show up clearly.
If the tires show a path of 20 foot or more.
Point the truck in a straight trajectory, now drive straight forward.

Now measure the tire track & then the width of your tires.
If the track is wider than your tires.
Then your truck is not tracking straight

It’s entirely possible you do have some rear steering going on if the rear suspension has any loose parts.

Did this happen before the rear differential bearing work? Or only after?
Only after. The guy said he didn't remove the axle, he did all of the work on the truck?

Check the rear u-bolts, shock mounting bolts, and spring eye bolts and shackle bolts.

Firstly for tool marks. If he removed the axle there will be marks on the nuts and bolts.

Secondly for any loose parts or worn out spring bushings etc that would allow the axle to move in any direction other than vertical.

Jack up the rear and make sure the rear wheel bearings aren’t allowing any movement.

If nothing is found on the rear it’s time to check the front suspension.
