Same here , my 5.7 never has had the (HEMI TICK ) it was just a LOUD Engine imo , BBB was talking up the molly content in Redline and I started using the 5W - 30 REDLINE as well , my engine has had nothing but Redline for about 25k and it's butter smooth and quiet as any engine I've ever had ....

I have used Redline oils for years in many applications , but with my new truck (in 2014 ) I was gonna stick with what the owners manual said // then this thread help me get my head out of my ass

I've gotta give a shout out to Synister though , his post , knowledge and links did encourage me to try both 30 & 40 wt oil ( Redline ) I'm sticking with the 30wt , but honestly it was a combination of BBB & Syn that got me where I am today ( oil wise )
So my hat is off to both of you fine gents !

Too bad Redline is $1,000 per quart or I would jump on this band wagon. I'm very interested, but just not quite enough to drop that coin on oil. Just wish PUP was more available. So, I'll stick with PP for now. You guys keep talking though and I might take out a loan to get the Redline.

BTW...sarcasm about the price...sadly, I actually have to put this disclaimer in for bleeders.

If your engine doesn't have Hemi tick, don't bother with Redline, I wouldn't. It has been priced out of my market if not for Hemi tick. I would being using PUP if I could get it in the 7 or 8 dollar per qrt range. I wouldn't use availability as an excuse, when I found it I would stock up, that is what garages are for. But that's just me and that's for engine oils.

You have to be crazy NOT to run redline in gears and tranny.

I'm another lost PUP user... I'm getting close to my next oil change and PUP is no where to be found.

I'm thinking about trying amsoil. If you join their customer preferred program... you get 20% off all their products. Still more expensive but at least its a little more reasonable....

I have a pic of my oil pressure and all that jazk at idle but for some reason i cant post pics anymore. Says they are ALL to big

Anyway, I was wondering if my pressure would drop after a few thousand miles like it did with PUP, but it has stayed right at 30 psi once at running temperature since it was fresh.

The Amsoil ss 0w40 had also quieted my engine down significantly compaired to PUP. Now with 3500 miles on this oil i am happy to see what it is doing so far.

All of my speculations and opinions of amsoil are just that at this point. A UOA will tell the real story, as it did with PUP.

Amsoil is not the best by no means but it is a great oil for sure. If redline have preferred customer discount I would leave Amsoil in a heartbeat.

Amsoil SS may be the best if you consider price, certainly way up there. Not the best against tick, but great wear numbers and hearty protection.

So

What is you's guys'ses take on liqui moly MOS2 additive?

What ive heard,
Positive.
Quiets engine noise (cant be bad).
Make it run "smoother( lol).
Works like unicorn tears. (Referance amsoil and redline fan boys for examples).

Negative.
Can create acid when water in oil mixes with it.
Can be captured by oil filter.
Can "fall out" of oil.
lowere TBN over time ( not sure about this one).
Has nothing to help hold it into suspense.

I am SLIGHTLY interesten in it but I am one of the guys that has NEVER use oil additives , only fuel. Oil additives scare me. But if it truly is benaficial for our Moly happy hemi's i will consider it

Okay here it is...not awesome numbers I got excited and did it early because I wanted to test it made it to under 900 miles of 10000.
I checked my records and I had added two makeup quarts in this OCI not 1 as sheet says. Napa 5W-30 were used for the makeup quarts. My belief is 5W-20 is being lost via blow-by hoping if I go to 5W-30 PUP after this analysis kit of PUP 5W-20 I can get an indication if I am correct or not.

I am going to track the amount of hours this OCI which I don't think I recorded last go around.
This go around I'll run for roughly 9000 miles it is PUP 5W-20 and a Royal Purple 20-820 filter.

That oil shows how accurate blackstone can be. A couple makeup quarts and that is exactly where you would expect the moly to be. Stuff like that lends credibility to blackstones results IMO. Looks like standard hemi wear but the tbn scares me. I have needed no makeup qrts on redline 5w30 been over a year.

It was nice to have TBN on there. I paid the $10 up charge for it. Kerry Group aka the Pennzoil Oil Analysis Kit paid the rest. Excited to see how the PUP does.

I have to ask everyone. Not to pick on "smiley" but is 2 makup quarts normal for a 130,000 mile 5.7 in 9000 miles?

My guess is no! I have usually added 1 though and never really pushed my oci as far. It does not seem to be burning it and I do get a lot in the catch can but I think 2 quarts is not good!

I'd say no concern .
Not on a 130K truck , basically adding 1 qt every 5,000 miles .

My last truck a 97 with the 360 had 275,000 mile when I traded it in and I had been adding a qt of oil with every 2nd to 3rd fuel fill up for probably the last 150 K and the engine still ran strong till the day I got rid of it .

My .02

I agree, one quart at approximately 5000 miles on an engine with 130k is pretty good.

Back in 2011 a guy I work with had to put a quart in his 2010 F150 with a 5.4 every 1200 miles and the dealer told him a quart every 1000milds is considered OK by Ford in modular engines under 50000 miles.

100% normal as long as your tail pipe aint smok'n. When you burn oil you get blueish smoke. When did you last change your pcv or do you have a catch can Smiley? My favorite vehicle of all time used a qrt every 3k for 11 years.

My wifes 2007 explorer with the 4.0 v6 goes through about 1/2 a quart in a year with 4quarts of 0w30 and 1 quart 0w40 Amsoil SS.

95,000 miles.

That is prity good then. My 2003 ranger had 90,000 on it (4.0 v6) and it went through almost zero oil in 5000 miles. Mobil one most of its life then Amsoil 5w30 for the last 20,000

Probably mentioned in one of the many past post but I hear a lot about PUP and mobile 1 lately and not so much about RP. I've used RP in my truck since the third oil change and have been very happy with it. But with the lack of talk about it on this thread has me second guessing this decision. Would like to hear all opinions on RP please.
