Just a bit of info for anyone that has the eco diesel. Pennzoil recommends rotella 5/40 and Amsoil recommends 5/40 and supposedly the owners manual says 5/40, but I know of at least one and maybe two local ram dealer that is still using 5/30 in the eco diesel. If you get you're oil changed at the dealer or anywhere else for that matter verify what oil is being put in or watch them pour you're oil in. There is a tsb about this for the early models before the owners manual was updated.

Wow that’s not good at all! Any dealer that’s still using 5w30 in an Ecodiesel is not adhering to FCAs polices. The TSB has them draining any 5w30 out of brand new Ecodiesels and refilling with 5w40. Not after the first change but immediately.

Another reason to change it yourself IMO

Is there anyway as a consumer that we can stay on top of tsb's that pertain to our own models?

Honestly that's pretty damn good for towing 14k in a gasser
Considering it only averages 13-14 empty, not bad. I picked the worst time to take off. 92°, windy, humid. The mountains in PA were treacherous. I prob saw 20 cars/trucks pulled over along the PA turnpike with hoods-up, overheating.

My truck did very well. Hottest temps I saw:

Coolant: 212

Tranny: 174

Oil: 237

I wasn't trying to be nice, I was trying to GTF out of the mountains! It performed flawlessly. Gas pedal status: SMASHED.

I noticed a couple things on this trip I hadn't ever before:

- In the right conditions, it engaged 5th gear at a much lower speed-- around 50-55. In the past while towing very heavy, it would never engage 5th until over 65.

- I noticed an odd over-sensitivity to airflow disruption. If a vehicle were approaching from my left or right flank, about 50' behind, I would get a quick but significant "wag-the-dog" from the trailer to the steering wheels like an inch-worm. I could see it happen... was particularly odd on flat ground. The larger the approaching vehicle, the worse it was. Must have had something to do with weight distribution/front attitude.

Overall good 1200 mi trip.

Oh, and Indiana's roads SUCK! Can't believe they charge a toll for that POS.

How many more trips do you have to make? Rack up enough miles you might "need" that new truck come first of the year.

That's the last run with the trailer. It's already unloaded, washed, and in secured storage. 3 vehicles and about 1/3 of our stuff here now and the rest in Jersey. The movers can handle what's left there.

I've taken a shining to this truck. It has taken everything I've thrown at it in stride and asked for more. Although the tranny has it's driveability quirks, I can't say it's not reliable; just not ideal. Overall, this truck has definitely proven itself a trustworthy steed in my book. But... who doesn't like a new truck?

Those temps were almost identical to what I saw through West Texas with 10k behind and another 1500 on board.

This truck is impressive for a gasser, plenty of power and legs with the 4.10s. And I don’t care what people say about a Cummins, I can buy a **** kid of Gas for the extra $12k they wanted for the diesel! LoL

Glad you made it safe brother.

One other thing. A lot of info in this pic. After the fuel range stopped displaying how many miles were left and switched to "fuel low", which means its running on fumes, I drove another 35 mi. It took 30.6 gallons.

Gas prices were nutso-

-Always 89 Octane

- PA- $3.89

- Ohio- $3.59

- Indiana- $3.05

- Illinois- $3.79

- Iowa- $2.98ee2f39a86e60686100a9df7e2f0dd1ca.jpg

Are you sure you didn't swipe an af engine and stick in there? I have a hard time keeping up with all the info on my simple instrument cluster. Are you still running FF in the tranny?

Thanks man. Yes, my truck bed and back seat were loaded with the heaviest **** I could find. We had to pay last move because were over the allowable weight limit... which is partially why I'm doing this.

I had 1000 lbs of free weights/dumb bells, oxy/acetylene torch kit and bottles, 2 air compressors, 3 generators, a literal ****load of hand tools, two mig welders, an arc welder, argon bottle, plasma cutter, 10" vice, drill press, all my Milwaukee M12 & M18 tools, batteries, and chargers, etc., etc. I'm pretty sure I was over the payload limit.

On a sad note fellas, I just found out a former Airmen of mine, who was struggling heavily when he first came in and had his ass kicked back into shape, was killed in an accident Saturday night. He was turning his career and life around and was on the path to do great things. There were 3 other Airmen in the car who didn’t survive as well. So say a prayer for their families this evening please.

The slowed down in a construction. Zone in a 4 door JEEP Wrangler, and we’re rear-ended by a Semi truck as they were coming to a stop, cops said semi never touched his brakes and had to of been going 65. Fire burned for 10 hours and the bridge it happened on will have to be repaired.

Life is too short, sorry if I argued about stupid **** in here, I needed to tell someone, so thanks for taking the few seconds to read.

Yep, still FF in the tranny. Still has the recall due on it, so I didn't drop it yet.
