It has only happened like 4 times so far. At first i wasn't sure what I heard and then it happened again and that's when I noticed it happening on the downshift slowing at freeway speeds.

I am going to try and replicate if more and pay more attention when i think it will happen so I can get better details.

The only way I can describe the sound is a thunk that sound like someone hit the tailgate but it is clearly coming from under the area of the backseat floorboard. Nothing in the truck rattling around either.

What would be the best transfer case on the 2500 6.4 for the 4wd?Do not go in deep mud but do tow 8000 Lbs camper and 5000 pontoon at times. Thinking of trading my 14 5,7 Laramie for a new 18 2500 6.4. My current transfer shift on fly with electronic button under 45 MPH to go into 4wd high.... to go to low 4wd must slow to a walk speed and pop in low same coming out. I have been told by some you can get two different transfer cases in the 6.4 2500.

I believe....the 2500's have the BW44-46 or the 44-47 transfer case, the 46 is the electronic one and the 47 is the manual one

When my 14 was brand new it used to do the same thing as yours on down shifting. Mine stopped on its own... or I got used to it and can't tell anymore.

Has anyone replaced the fan clutch and electric fan with an electric fan set up on the 6.4 yet?

I pick up my 2500 6.4L tomorrow. Here’s a screen shot of the window sticker. I was about to replace the fan clutch on my 5.7 1500 but couldn’t pass up the deal on this, and I need the bigger truck for our camper.

My 3500 6.4 Hemi gets 12 to 14 MPG not pulling anything on the highway. Once I hook to the 43' 5th wheel RV I get around 8 MPG. Plenty of power and it pulls great and handles well. It is a crew cab 4x4.

Mine did this in the very beginning. I have about 8K miles on it now and I don't think it does that any more. I'll pay attention tomorrow.
