Does anyone know what cellular system our trucks use, GSM or CDMA?
The reason I'm asking is I upgraded to a RA4 and it keeps giving me a message that I need to have the trucks phone serviced even though I added a GSM antenna. Since I'm still getting the error, even after adding the antenna, it makes me thing it is CDMA.
I'd probably just buy a CDMA antenna but it seems to me that the spectrums overlap anyway.
Rather than "buy and try" again I thought this time I might ask.

Who is the provider you have to go through to get service in the truck?

Mine comes up as 3G connection. Is that one or the other?
It is both.

I have no idea. I don't have the uConnect service and don't know who they use. I'll do a little research and get back with some answers.

Ok depending on provider is the what signal they would need, I believe Verizon and sprint are CDMA and AT&T is GSM. Those are the big ones IIRC.

That's probably why mines does it all the time. It tells me my phone connection to my truck needs service. I notice after awhile the time on the screen stays the same after 30 minutes before it tells me.

UConnect is definitely Sprint (CDMA).

How did you get to the state of needing service for the phone connection? I actually want to replicate this (disabling the phone connection). :)

I replaced my 5.0 radio which doesn't have a phone with the 8.4 which does.
I put a GSM antenna on the connection and it gave me 3g service but didn't get rid of the error. I've since put a 10k ohm resistor on a FAKRA D lead and that got rid of the error message.
