Hey,

I have a 2017 Ram 3500 non-nav RA3. I am trying to update via a usb. I have downloaded UCONNECT_8.4A_RA3_17.11.07_MY17.zip and extracted it to a usb drive. It seems to only contain one file 'swdl.upd' and my uconnect system doesnt even try to load it.

$ unzip -l UCONNECT_8.4A_RA3_17.11.07_MY17.zip
Archive: UCONNECT_8.4A_RA3_17.11.07_MY17.zip
Length Date Time Name
--------- ---------- ----- ----
1469638656 03-09-2017 17:10 swdl.upd
--------- -------
1469638656 1 file

Has anyone come across this issue before? It seems most other updates contain a 'swdl.iso' also.

Did you unzip it before copying to the thumb drive?

Is your USB drive formatted as FAT32?

Make sure your plugging it into the data USB not the phone charging USB which is under the flap, do it as shown below

Should be 2 or 3 files(since is major update, most have 1 file) on this update, think 3 if I remember right. Unzip, move the files to a fat32 formatted usb, place in usb port, wait a minute or so and prompt for update should pop up. If you ever flash a trailer brake OEM controller, you won't have icons on radio. So you just put same update in usb, won't give prompts, wont update entire radio, but will take about 5-10 minutes and prompt you after it completes, then you will have brake controller options in radio settings also. Finds it on its own and it auto installs for trailer brake.
