The new devices all use USB-C for my android devices. I'd like to replace the charge ports in the back seat with the usb-c ports. Most of my cords are usb-c on both ends, so I can't use the old usb style. Anyone swapped old for the new usb-c?

I think I’d be more tempted to use an adapter. Seems like with the amount of other devices that still use standard usb, you would run into the opposite problem eventually.

Nope, USB-C to USB-C is used (and necessary) for supporting full data rate and charging.

I believe if you use USB-C to USB-A you can still get full charging, but wont get full data rate (in the context of being in a vehicle, data rate is not an issue)

I'm going to say you're wrong.

Data rate is 1.0 vs 2.0 or 3.0

A b or c is form factor

I have Galaxy S8 Active. USB C plug in. Use a USB-A to USB-C cord and get fast charge and data rate is not affected at all.

I have a USB c phone but I be damned if start using double ended cables.

I'm happy with magnetic quick connect USB cables.
