What did you do with your 4th Gen this week?

The entire engine cover has been painted. Here is a "before" shot:
The letters are the decal kit you saw on eBay. The silver, gloss black and flat black are Dupli-Color rattle can over filler primer. Here is the paint system I used. There is about $45 in paint.


I doubt that heat paint is necessary.

Awesome! Nice job. Is that cover a pain to get out? My truck is new, so haven't looked at how hard that thing would be to take out.

Finished up my Billet Technologies billet engine jewelry. Now just need to figure out what to do to jazz up the engine cover.

The engine cover is very easy to take off. It has two rubber grommets near the front that are pushed down on studs on the engine. Take off the intake pipe. Then Lift the cover up and forward to remove it. There are also two horizontal studs at the rear of the cover that you guide onto when putting it back.. The biggest problem with painting the cover is getting it smooth before painting. It is a rough textured plastic.

I bought a cell phone holder that I suction cupped to the little spot just above the vent. I wanted to use the phone as a dash cam as I have found an app for that. It wiggles to much. Gonna have to do some thing else. It will hold it for gps usage tho. I need a dash cam.

Got new tires yesterday. Excellent in the snow. I went with lt275/65r20 Goodyear Duratracs. Definitely a massive improvement over stock.
