He is a Freshman, he went to Cy-Falls
Cy-Falls?! No shirt! Mine went to Cy-Creek. We must be just a few miles from each other.

Stopped by tractor supply and bought a decently valuable tool this morning.
I woke up thinking about it for some reason.
After the job was done I’m glad my brain was already in overdrive @ 5:30am.

I greased the back (knuckle) U-Joint of the front drive shaft.

Even though my truck is brand new & the four-wheel-drive system has not been used yet I woke up thinking I needed to put a little grease in that u joint just for good measure.

I am glad now that I did, due to the fact that it took at least 5 pumps to get any amount of grease to come out the back side of the knuckle.
Fact is: it was new grease coming out the back side, not factory Grease.

Front driveshaft must’ve been installed before break time or after break time or at quitting time but someone forgot to pack grease in that joint.

Anyway this type of grease fitting is radically Stupid!
Here is the simple tool I had to buy.

Well, we planned to continuing our explorations of Washington state, however the wildfire smoke conspired against us. Both pictures are of the same beach, from roughly the same spot, taken about a month apart. Let’s just say the smoke is awful

The wild fires and smoke in the west have been bad this year. Very smoky in mid state Oregon today again.

No pix, but something funny...

This morning, as I was commuting into work over this little gem of a road, this stupid black econobox decided that he wanted to tailgate like he was some sort of badass (I was driving the legal limit... It's usually mega-quiet, and I'm usually the only one on it at 4:45am.)

Since I live out there in the area, and there wasn't a safe pull-off area for at least a mile or two, I decided to see if he was a local or not... that is, how well does he really know this road? So, instead of pulling off, I quickly cue and crank up some German metal on the stereo, and then I step on it.

I think I averaged roughly 50mph for the last 19 miles of this particular road** . In a Ram 1500 with a 6-banger.

He couldn't (or was more likely too scared to) keep up, in spite of obviously trying. I lost him for good in the twisties at around milepost 8 or so.

When I finally turned onto OR-30 (a main state highway) and continued cruising into Portland, dude eventually catches up (because I needed a quick coffee, and because of traffic.) He had the sourest look on his face... in a perverse way, it totally made my morning.

(...yeah, not the smartest thing I ever did, what with the deer, elk, etc. - but while I don't and won't make such things any sort of habit, I regret exactly nothing.)

** Roughly estimated; I did something like 75-ish on the straights, maybe 35-40 on the worst curves, 50-55 in-between.
