Nice!

Roads look clear how did he get in there?

According to the driver, he pulled off farther than usual because of a log that was sitting on the shoulder. When he went to pull away, the rear tires walked themselves down into stuckville.

I have had that happen :( I stopped to switch my windshield wiper blade because the driver side one broke and once I started moving again (f-350 CCLB 2wd) it walked me down into the ditch... Bad day. Now I have a 4wd and a 1/2 ton my days of being stuck on flat ground are over.

That's why I'll only own a 4wd from now on. :favorites13:

Downsized campers, sold my 30 foot travel trailer that weighed 5700 pounds for the 22 footer that weighs just over 4000. This is legal in idaho by the way. Crf 80, generator and bull mastiff will go in the bed when we actually go camping. I will also hook the weight distribution bars up. Was just going on a short trip to the car wash.

I'll add to this thread, even though I haven't "towed" anything just yet. I did haul 30 bags of wet, slimy mulch from Home Depot today, twice. They are having a 5 for $10 sale this weekend, so I inflated my Air Lift 1000 air bags to 35 psi and loaded up my short bed, crew cab truck.

I knew I was going to make two trips, so I split the total bag count of 60, in half. I'm pretty sure my truck would have no issues at all with 45-50 bags, but it didn't make sense to put more on one trip than the other. I do have TufTruck HD coils (1223-V), along with Bilstein 4600's installed on my truck, too.

If I was loading the truck myself and had the time, I would have measured how much the bed of my truck sagged with the 30 bags in back. I guess I could have measured it when I got home, but I didn't think of it either time...lol.

I have no idea how much each bag weighed, but like I said earlier, they were considerably heavier than what a dry bag of mulch weighs, since we had rail, hail, and snow all day yesterday.

I threw my truck into Tow/Haul mode and let the truck do it's thing. In the future, I'd like to spend a little more time fine tuning the air bags. I have the Air Lift Wireless One system installed on my truck, so decreasing and increasing the psi in the bags is a snap with the onboard compressor and remote control. As mentioned, I ran the bags @35 psi, but I think somewhere around 20-25 would have been optimal. They were still a little "bouncy" going over bumps and small potholes in the roads.

So, I went back to Home Depot this morning and loaded up my truck with 40 bags of mulch this time. I set my Air Lift 1000 bags at the max 35 psi prior to putting the bags in the bed. This time I remembered to snap some pics after I got home with the load.

The first photo is a profile pic of my truck loaded up with the 40 bags of mulch and the air bags set at 35 psi.

The second photo is a pic of the distance between the top of the tire and the fender with the 40 bags of mulch and the air bags set at 35 psi. The distance is about 6 3/4".

The third photo is a profile pic of my truck unloaded with the air bags set at 35 psi.

The fourth photo is a pic of the distance between the top of the tire and the fender with the truck unloaded and the air bags set at 35 psi. The distance is about 8 1/2".

The last photo is a pic of the distance between the top of the tire and the fender with the truck unloaded and the air bags set at the minimum 5 psi. The distance is about 8 1/4".

As a reference, my truck is configured with Tuff Truck 1223-V variable rate coil springs, Air Lift 1000 air bags, and Bilstein 4600 HD shocks.

Looking good! Decent amount of weight.

Thanks! I will say the Goodyear P-rated tires have quite a bit of sidewall flex to them. If I were hauling or towing with any kind of weight on a regular basis, I'd probably step up to a real truck tire...lol. I should weigh one of the bags to get a rough estimate on how much weight was in the truck bed.

On a side note, some guy driving a Ford F-150 was there at Home Depot at the same time, loading up a full pallet of mulch in his truck. Talk about spot lighting the raccoons in the trees...lol. If it were my truck, I would have done individual bags and spread the load out across the entire bed of truck. They had 2 employees assigned to loading mulch up all weekend long, so it's not like the guy had to do any heavy lifting there.

Here's my new setup... 18' open trailer that I built over the winter. Much prefer this to the 20' enclosed.

I just pulled it 2000 miles round trip from Quebec to Kentucky. Flawless.

It's not towing, but pretty sure I was pushing the payload limits... This is with the airlift 1000s at about 12psi before loading.
