I just towed a new Heartland Pioneer Ds320 home today. It does the job. I'll get a 2500 for sure next time though. Can't beat diesel for towing. I averaged 8.7 mpg. Ugh.

I have a 16' flatbed trailer that I hauled an 8000lb diesel tractor with my 2012 4x4 over 2200 miles. I was able to center it over the trailers dual axles so the tongue weight on the hitch was not bad at all. I could hardly tell there was a trailer being pulled. The torque that HEMI puts out did a number on the load.

Because of PPD and Fl regulations, I had to drive all the way back down there ans retrieve the Accord. Now I have a spare car. It has one of those "Millennial Anti-theft devices" in it - AKA a manual transmission.

30' Jayco Bunkhouse - 8200#.

2014 1500 5.7 w/392 - no longer my truck. It didn't like pulling the TT at all, even with WDH and anti sway. Plenty of power for the load, no where near enough truck. Handling was downright scary, braking was worse.

Picked up a 18 tradesman long bed/crew with the 6.4 and 410 gears - night and day difference.

Most I pulled so far was 8600 lbs with my 2014 Ram QC 4X4 6speed xsmn with 3.55 diffs .....it was all this little 1500 wanted .

Don't get me wrong , it pulled it fine and braking within reason was not an issue and the truck is rated for a bit more ....but imho 8600 lbs is plenty enough for my set up [emoji1303]

Guessing that had something to do with it? I get minimal sway with my crew cab, reg bed.

I misspoke - I had the crew cab. Using 1200# load levers I couldn't stop the truck from squatting - tried multiple adjustments... it was more like wobble than sway - the truck roamed all over the road & the trailer told it where to go.

Prior to that I had a Mega Cab with the 5.7 - long wheelbase + a heavier truck, the towing stability was night and day between the two.

I guess I'm just more comfortable with the larger truck.

I have a 3.21 on my truck, but with the 8 speed tranny, it's an easy pull even with 8000 lbs on a travel trailer. Not diesel easy, but I was impressed.

Maybe a little off topic. I tow a 4000 lb travel trailer with a 2017 1500. Only complaint is the gas mileage drops to around 10 mpg. This seems consistent with other reports I've read. It is a little disappointing as I expected the mighty 5.7 hemi would shrug off such a light load.

I shoulda taken a picture of it but last week I borrowed the boss’s 18-foot, 2-5/16 bumper-pull flatbed to haul the girlfriend’s/daughter’s/boyfriend’s Mustang down from her house to a repair shop to get his tranny rebuilt. Pulled that Stang pretty good in tow/haul mode. Didn’t get to test the built-in brake controller because I don’t think the trailer brakes on that trailer were hooked up but the big Ram didn’t have much trouble stopping it’s weight at the trailer weight.

Biggest thing I've towed. Modified k5 rock crawler. Up hills no issues. Don't mind the sag, there was no bottoming out or anything. It was a very smooth tow. Had a little smaller drop hitch then use. Plus those damn kayaks just weighed down everything LOL

Bought a travel trailer. Weighs 4000lbs dry and probably 5200lbs loaded. Tows real nice with the husky round bar wdh with sway.

My Buddy's Pride of Ownership, when I had to tow his new Chevy out of the farm field we were parked in.
I laughing told him I could run over and fire up the tractor, since my truck did not really want to be connected to his, in any way.
Even his Chevy loving kids laughed their butts off, at that one . . . until I asked them if they wanted me to wait around, once I got their Dad pulled out, to make sure their Chevy's got out too.

he he, it was a good day.
