Stack of 5 trailers on my 1500. A little under 8k lbs in all. I pull a load like this about 80 miles daily often. Just gotta make sure the bottom trailer has brakes.

Nice. The boat should take some pin weight off the truck sans the old transmission this should tow well. Do you have the factory trailer brake controller and are the boat brakes surge or converted to electric? Ever tow that out of the flats?

Thanks VernDiesel,

I have (had) the factory brake controller, and the boat brakes were surge. The only "non-flats" towing I did was in western Arkansas. There are hills and steep roads, but the total climb amounts are much less than out west (hopefully that made sense).

I also welded additional I-beams along the trailer frame. It was an ultra-light, and I didn't think the frame would handle the additional stress. The boat was 3300 lbs with a ~500 lb. tongue weight. I also installed an airbag suspension system on the rear axle. It was the automatic kind with a pump controlled from inside (not a helper system). I did this because the tongue/pin weights caused the headlights to point too high at night. Even though they were 5000lbs each, I didn't use the airbags to overload, just to level the durned truck. I also welded* a 5000lb winch underneath the frame of the fifth wheel hitch. It had a remote control and I used it to pull the boat onto the trailer on steep ramps. I'll try to find a pic later and post it.

Happy new year, BTW.

Disclaimer: I traded this truck two weeks ago for a 2500 CC LB Diesel, that's why it doesn't match what's in my member info. I got a bigger boat that's around 12,500 on the trailer and need to be able to tow it.

*Got a friend who's a "real" welder to help. I'm kind of an amateur.

I tow a Forest River 28CKDS at least once a month. full of water and gear its just shy of 10000lbs. tows great. about 1000lbs tongue wt when loaded. plus 700lbs of people and dog in the truck. Its a 2015 big horn 4x4 crew with 8 speed, 3.92, and air ride. The bags jack it right up, Trans temp stays between 186 and 190, coolant 212, and oil low 240s. I run pennzoil ultra and 89 octane. 10mpgs at 65mph

The only thing I have towed so far. My boat and trailer weigh about 4600 lbs. Forgive the filthy truck, we had to drive some melting gravel roads before picking up the boat. Pulling the boat costs me five to six miles per gallon in fuel economy. Other than that, the truck does not seem to mind at all. I am of course using tow/haul mode.

This thread is great. Like watching that Hoarders TV show, makes me feel better about the condition of my house to see other people who have even more. Lol.

Here’s my contribution: JayFlight 29QBS. I think it’s about 33.5’ total. 7100lbs dry, 8150lbs fully loaded for a 4 day trip (as measured at CAT scales). Well under the 9,950lb tow rating in my 2015 crew cab Laramie with 3.92 diff, but very close to max payload and rear axle rating with me and the family. Pulls awesome, no stability issues getting passed by trucks in either direction. I keep it between 60 and 65 mph.

Picked up and micro pickup for my father. 400km trip...probably weighs 4000-4500lbs. Pulls like a boss with no issues. The 5.7 hemi with the 8spd and 3.21.

My 32 foot Cherokee 770 lb hitch weight 6400 dry about 7400 all loaded up . My 1500 Laramie towed and stopped it fine but I was over on the 1070 lb max load limit from the yellow door sticker . I traded for a 2500 6.4 with nearly 3 times the rating at 2920 lbs . I like the 2500 much better towing .Ram1500RV.jpeg

Pulled our new camper to our seasonal last week.

Did pretty well, little rough right outside of Winnipeg but smoothed out as the highway got better.

Mods, equalizer hitch and progressive springs.

I pulled a 24' tandem axle trailer with a skidsteer on it. It was super sketchy. No trailer brakes. good thing I didn't have to go far at all

I hauled nearly 1/4 ton of fencing (wood) for my sister. My truck ran so smooth and pretty, but I had to drive slow (30 miles an hour)
