Thinking I would want a gooseneck on something that big.

Yea, I agree. I should have ordered that way. however, all my other trailers are bumper pulls, and my rigs are already set up. But after a few months of towing it, I'm thinking 5th wheel would have been better. Its a pain to park this trailer, its almost 40' long in total.

Bigdaddy, in reply to your question, to the best of my knowledge, Ram doesn't make a 4.56 gear for the 2500 HD. The 2013 and earlier PowerWagons had the 4.56 but have also went to the 4.10 gears. (They have a locker diff so gears wont interchange) After more than a few discussions with Ram, I got approval to re gear using the 4.56 that I believe are a Yukon gear. (listed as a GM gear) As my dealer was instrumental in my ability to keep the 5/100000 warranty on everything but the gear sets, I had them do the work. Was more expensive but having and keeping good relations with the dealer I felt was worth the cost. For the record, they did an excellent job and no problems after about 15k of driving and towing. As for empty mileage, probably lost a couple if driving elevations were near sea level. Here in CO, with elevations starting at about 6000, probably lost nothing and maybe better than stock for city driving. Definitely changed the power characteristics. More like a truck and still tacks only 2300 rpm at 80 in 6th. Truth, if available, would consider something around the 4.88 range knowing what I know now. But that's just my thoughts and likes entirely.

The fact the power wagon has lockers doesn't mean anything. The gears still interchange between a power wagon set of axles and a non power wagon set of axles.

Absolutely. The fact that they went to a bigger diff is what makes them not interchangeable with older gear sets.

Hi.....
Just bought a new 2013 Ram 2500 Hemi to pull our new 30' camper......wont be towing for a few weeks.

Wondering what other 2500 Hemi owners are hauling, and what kind of results you are experiencing....

Truck stability?
Braking?
Fuel mileage?
Rpm range?
Towing speed?

I currently pull an 8500 lbs 5th wheel. I have a 2015 2500 6.4L 4X4 (w/ Factory brake controller). I typically get about 9 MPG while cruising 65 - 70.

I suck at remembering to take pictures but today I had a 20' car trailer with 2 palettes of hardwood flooring (each palette contained 28 boxes that were 6' long and 4"x8" plus one pallet 35 boxes of 6"x36" tile. Plus 5 boxes in the bed of the truck) . I was definitely over weight on the trailer so I didn't want to go over 45. It was about a 40 mile one way trip. And was for the most part impressed on how it handled towing that amount of weight. I had the weight as evenly distributed as possible so it didn't squat very much. The area driven was a mix of flat and Hills with different speed zones.

'14 2500 6.4L 4.10 gears. I pull a 26' Cruiser with it. Boat + trailer is close to 35 feet and just over 9k fully loaded. Can't even tell the boat is back there. Awesome truck!

Work and Play 30FBW. 36' and 8400 dry. Loaded with a RZR 800 and Grizzly 500 we went up one side of Granite Pass, WY at a GCVW of 18500. 10 miles of up to 8% and more hair pins than you can shake a stick at. It knew it was there, but never felt like too much.

With my 14 ram 2500 outdoorsman with the 5.7L I have pulled upwards of 10000 pounds on the hitch. I just lock it out of 6th gear and enable the tow haul and set my cruise control to what ever speed i want. I have cruised 120km/h with pretty steady side winds and not once did the trailer push my truck around. Its the reason i upgraded to a 3/4 ton. My half ton couldnt safely pull the load so off she went and i picked up this truck. Power isnt an issue but i find the motor loved to down shift rather than load up a gear.

Towed a big Tex dump trailer loaded with 4 tons of gravel for a neighbor yesterday. It was 12381 lb on the scale, and an easier tow than my 8K lb travel trailer.

I had 19,000 behind my 2500 last week. Just over 7 tons of crushed asphalt and the trailer weighs 2 tons.

Been trying the keep it around 5 tons of asphalt which puts me right at the manufacturer rating of the trailer and axles.
