So I have been on the hunt for a new 2500 cummins diesel. I recently came across a couple that peaked my interest and am a little torn between them. One is a new 2014 2500 outdoorsman ctd crew cab. Price on it is $65,000. The other truck I found is a 2013 2500 slt ctd mega cab. It is being sold as preowned because the manager at the dealership was driving it. It has 12000kms on it. Price on it is $57,000. Both trucks are optioned fairly close to the same. The crew cab has heated seats and nav. The only difference. So my question is which one would be your pick and why?

Damn you must be in Canada those prices are high! I personally like the outdoorsman and for the extra 13-14% in price I like new less miles a year newer. Gives you a extra year on your warranty and a extra 12000km there has to be a price on what a warranty is worth to you. Plus the outdoorsman looks a lot better and is basically a fully loaded slt.

If the SLT has enough features for you, that's the route I'd go. I'd try and wheel them lower on the price first :naughty:

The dealership with the 2013 told me they have no more than $1500 wiggle room. What's realistic to ask for a price? Cuz at $1500 less than $57000 they still gotta be making money.

The warranty doesn't matter. It will be the same no matter what, if it is being sold as new the 2013 will still have the 5 year 100k warranty.

Go with the 2014, you get the upgraded frame, new front suspension, coil spring rear suspension, and better mileage because of the urea injection.

The warranty started in july on it. So it has 4.5 years of warranty remaining. It has urea injection.

Market research man take a look all over canada for the truck you want and prices that you can get them at. They are making a ton of money even with $1500 off. Remember its a used vehicle and they were the ones that turned it into a used vehicle.

I'm curious what makes the warranty a worthless pile of dog $hit?

If I didn't have one day one I would of been in the whole a extra $700 due to a bad paint job on the roof ( that I didn't knowtice till the first time I went to detail it)There are many members that have issues I think the warranty is a pretty good thing. Now that truck only loseing 6 months worth of warranty may not be a big issue but new vehicles need warrantys imo obviously your view is different

If you live in Ontario check out Peel Chrysler. He can get you a much better deal than that on a brand new one. He offered me 62,000 on a 2014 2500 Longhorn loaded up 1 month ago.

Talked to the salesman about the 2013. Sounds like $50,000 + taxes is the lowest they will go. So be about 55k. Gonna stuck to my guns for now and told him that he has to do better than that.

Just an update on how my search has been going. So the original salesman I was dealing with on the 2013 Ram 2500 ctd Mega cab no longer works at the dealership. Talked to another salesman and they refuse to budge off of $52,000 plus tax. This was about a month ago. Now last week my wife was in the city and stopped by the dealership and offered them $51,500 plus tax. They refused the offer. Now this week I see that the price on the truck has been reduced to $50,000 plus taxes. What ticks me off is that they have never once phoned to keep me updated on the truck. It has now been on their lot for approximately 100 days. I still love the truck and it is exactly what I want, but I just cant bring myself to deal with them and still think that the price is too high.

Walk in to another dealership and tell them to do a dealer trade on that truck and that you'll buy it for $50k.

That's not going to do a dealer trade on a demo. It's basically a used truck with that many miles on it. Its To bad it's not as simple as to just come down to the good ole USA and buy your truck and take it back there.

I definitely thought about it, but with the difference in the dollar and warranty issues etc. Not sure it's worth it.
