I think

I think I've read that Maximizer and OBX are the same thing? I do know that you can find catted versions of the Maximizer and OBX brands on eBay, so if you want to at least be compliant with the spirit of the law you can stick with them. I know JBA is supposedly of high quality, but doesn't offer a catted Y-Pipe so they're a no go for me :(

Other than that, I won't vote because I have 0 first hand experience.

ARH/Kooks probably didn't make the list based on price. It is intimidating but if it is worth anything my muffler shop, who does lots of performance work, said the ARH headers fit as good as the best they do. They said I wouldn't believe what people bring in and even stuff not fitting quite right, but they made a point to mention the ARH install was a pleasant job to do if that is worth anything...

Also, I think ARH and Kooks have equal length tubes.

Yes, and perhaps more science into air flow??? Not my department, just remember a video about scavenging and other technical exhaust terms and how important certain aspects and intersections are....

The reason ARH and Stainless Works aren't on the list is purely due to price.

Oh damn I bet it is loud! Doesn't the JBA and OBX have resonators built into the y-pipe?

Isn't that the point of long tube headers?

My vote: American Racing or Kooks.

That would be nice for people who have that kind of coin. There are several people here who run all kinds of longtubes on these truck and the track times are VERY comparable. Not worth dumping an extra $800 or more on the super nice headers to gain only a couple more hp.

Like stainless cause it goes to a true dual setup rather than a ypipe. 1 3/4 is also the route of which I would stay at mike. No need for 1 7/8 headers on a 5.7. Hell, 900 horse hellcats are running 1 7/8 headers. Over kill and loss of bottom end is all you'll get out of that on a 8 speed. Don't have the ability to utilize a giant stall converter to get pass the loss of low end with that big of a primary

I'm happy with my OBX headers , $569. They're mini resonators on the y-pipe , not cats. I spent $200 to ceramic coat the headers and y-pipe. I had to add a vibrant resonator to tone it down, too loud. OBX and Maximizer are the same thing.

I'm not worried about low end loss from a RCSB 8spd 3.92 truck. I might lose a touch but the re tune for the headers will make up for that loss of low end and will negate that. I would rather have 1 3/4 but to do that means the massive cost increase which I don't feel like paying. With the way these are geared in first there won't be a need for a big stall anyway.

I understand what your saying, but we both know 1 7/8ths is over kill. Doesn't matter if it's a 5/6 speed, 8 speed, or 20 speed, if you every see under 4000 rpms at wot, you will be affected negatively by the larger primarys at our power level
