So reading about the zone 1.5" body lift, specifically the front bumper relocation. Currently I have the diode dynamic lights where the tow hooks would be - think there will be a problem after doing the body lift with these??

Not that it has any impact but I was thinking I'd do the body lift in conjunction with the 5100s in either the 1.4 or 2.1 setting. Haven't decided yet but leaning towards 1.4 for ride quality. Thoughts?

Nvm after spending some additional time with the instructions for the kit I'm not going to go this route. Not really to fond of cutting or drilling on the truck for a little bit of lift...

the drilling is just for new bolt holes. It's not so bad with a stepper drill bit.

The drilling is minimal and worth it IMO. My Bils are at 2.8. So with the BL I’m over 4”. Better than spending over a grand to lift it 4”.

It's not the task that bothers me, I've got access to sharp bits - it's just drilling into the new-to-me truck, losing the fan shroud, and most importantly possibly losing the use of the already purchased and installed DD lights.

Can anyone confirm they will or will not be able to be used?? I'm guessing no based on some of the comments regarding the tow hooks but maybe something differs about the install or it could be made to work...

how do your DD lights mount? Tow hooks are different because of the bracket and the angles. Also, I've not noticed any temp differences without the shroud

well, that's an easy fix. Add a drop bracket out of some flat bar stock and no worries.

Ok. I figured there would be way but I'm a complete newb when it comes to lifts on trucks so without any experience I'm only going by what I'm reading and hearing. I really appreciate your input.

yeah, that's any easy fix. there's no structural integrity you're trying to preserve like there is on a tow hook. Just make a short extension for the bracket and you're good. GL if you decide to lift it.

where in IL are you?

Thanks for the encouragement! :) I'm leaning towards it now cuz I do wanna get around 3" total and maintain a quality ride.

I'm about 60m south of ChiTown - small community the Bears have been holding training camp at up until this last year - Bourbonnais, ever hear of it?

***** right on - gotta love the rivalry - we can be friends till IF the season starts then all bets are off! ;)

Never been to Oregon ( or anywhere on the west coat for that matter ) but someday soon I hope!

Went and saw Metallica many years ago at the Winnebago Cty Fairgrounds, what a great time that was! Haven't had any other reason to be near Rockford other than to pass through. Where you at in WI now? Milwaukee / Racine area?

Again, thanks for the insight on the body lift.

And one last thing, did you do anything to the rear ( ie add a spacer?? ). I'm hoping to preserve some of the rake and thinking if I go with the 1.4 setting + 1.5" BL the rake should still be there, just not as much as stock - thoughts?

I meant Oregon, IL, along the Rock river/Hwy 2 corridor.

As for the rake, setting the bils at 1.4 will maintain your rake. I set my bils at 2.8, then added a 1.5 rear spacer to get just a little rake back in. if you can see my signature, the fender well measurements are in it.

you'll find lots of helpful people on this site. The gen 4 folks are most generous with helping you spend your money on mods :)

Over the years on gen 4s I have had the Bilsteins at 1.4-2.1 and 2.8 combined with 1.5 and 3" body lifts. Tires ranged from 35-12.50-20 E rated KO2's and Nitto terra grapplers 275-65-20 xl rated and are 20lbs lighter per tire than the KOs only 1/2" shorter and 1" narrower than the KO2s. All said and done the lighter Nittos and 1.5 " BL works the best .

OOOOH - this also great info!! Thanks so much! Quick question - any spacer in the rear or as is from the factory?

Do you think it rode better at 1.4 vs 2.1?

I'd consider 2.1 w/ 1.5 BL and rear spacer if I thought the difference in ride quality was negligible.

It rides much better at 1.4 which is what I wanted. No spacer in the rear. I just wanted this truck to look like it should of from the factory being a 4x4 nothing tall and wanted it to ride good. My 2014 was at 2.1 for a while and 1.5 body lift w/35s then swapped the BL for a 3". It looked fine but I didn't care for the ride on our state highway. I then lowered the Bilsteins to 1.4 and and went to the slightly smaller Nittos. The heavy KO2s created a vibration which could not be stopped . Gave that truck to my daughter and bought the black 17 pictured . I already knew what was going on this truck when I bought it , the old 1.5" body lift 1.4 on the Bilsteins and 275-65-20 XL rated Nitto's . No regrets, I have a Jeep for off road the Ram is just for looks.
This red one was the 2014 when it had 35s and 3" BL and 1.4 Bilsteins ,now my Daughters
