WD-40 is not a lubricant....They now have a lubricant in their product line but the original WD-40 isn't it.
WD-40 is for water displacement.....I used to use it on distributor caps back in the day when they got wet inside.

It still worked, tho. But true, I probably woulda been better off using some rattle-can white lithium grease, or some PB blaster but that stuff stinks and and is as messy as hell.

I did buy a can of that gel WD-40 so when the squeaks come back, I’ll try that. 82229f1bb4a874eb4caf31aa5673e552.jpg

So, you mean you spent $35k+, and did little to no research on a vehicle?

Come on!

CD player, integrated brake controller, window switches, gear selector....really? You didn't SEE these things before signing paperwork?

Don't know about your '19 model, but I've been looking at Luverne's 3" nerf bars that mount to the frame body mounts on my '18. No one here has yet to speak up about them, and I haven't received a response on them from Luverne or one of their resellers. I'd like to read some feedback before I pull the $700 trigger.

I'll probably go that route in few years after the OEMs rust away

You would expect side-step to be mounted to the frame on a TRUCK that has one, but it's not. With few extra heavy duty brackets it will hold fine even if its a foot away, but that will cost $15 more. In North East rockers are going to be rusty in few years and as is, I believe they are rated for 300lbs. Not everybody gets new truck every 3 years.

If you keep them clean that won’t happen as easy. Besides, they’re aluminum. Or well, at least the painted ones that came on my truck. Can’t speak for the OEM chrome ones.

I don’t. My last truck had the mopar boards that were as old as the truck was when I sold it and they lasted 10 years.

Next time I go looking for a vehicle, I'll take week off and I'll check weather forecast and make sure its a rainy day. Ill bring my CD case and my 27' trailer, and I'll hire a salter truck to drive in front of me and sling rock salt, all while operating rear-slider window and HVAC controls

In addition to dozen things that I don't like about the RAM, there are many more that I do, but that's not the focus of this tread. Buying a vehicle is a compromise in most cases and I made one just like everybody else

I don’t get the reason for the salt truck...

Are you saying you’re following that close behind a salt-shaker that the rock salt is chipping your windshield??

I check everything to make sure it works before I buy. If I don't like the way it works I move on, but that's me.

Me too. I think if I would’ve wanted my truck to have a CD player and a brake controller that had the possibility to whine about it some day, I would’ve had them point me in the direction that had those options.

I didn’t like the fact that my truck didn’t have the chrome running boards when I bought it. I didn’t like that it didn’t have wheel locks. Didn’t like that it didn’t have front tow hooks but in order to get everything else I wanted, I had to temporarily settle with that since special ordering was out of the question on the upper trim models in late 2017 when I bought it; but guess what; it’s got all those items now. Well, it had the wheel locks- I took them off because they didn’t match my new lug nuts. Lol.

Then fix it. There’s probably a plastic tab broke, or not seated properly. Probably shouldn’t be too hard to get to it through the access panel on the tailgate.
It's double sided tape. It's a cheap piece of crap from the factory.

I take it you’re referring to the 6-speed in the HD’s...
Yep.

What did you use to grease it? Mine did that little bit but after a few shots of WD-40 on the hinges, and on the limiter, mine are as quiet as they can be.
Come on. WD40?

Hmm. Maybe need to take it to a better shop?
You mean better than the 3 ram dealerships? I agree.

Was there any codes?
Not according to the dealer

Um, what has already fallen off??
The tailgate piece. We covered that.

The halftons are made here, but according to this, Ram HD’s could start being assembled in Michigan by 2020.
How does that help now?

That’s even easier. Since it’s already coming off anyways, it shouldn’t be too hard to remove it and start over with some much better quality tape.

Can’t help ya there. Luckily the new 19 HD’s have that 8-speed now but you’d have to settle for that knob in the dash if you got one but, that 6-speed’s kind of a joke. Other than maybe other reasons of not wanting a 3/4-ton, that was one of the main things that swayed me towards a halfton.

Come on. WD40?
Mm hmm. Believe it or not, it shut mine up.

Just because the original WD40 might not necessarily be designed to be used as a lubricant, it still gets the job done on certain things.

Have you crawled under there and looked for yourself? Even gone as far as taking the wheel off to look closer?

Not according to the dealer
Hmm. Has it done this more times, or was it just a one-time occurrence? Did it not flash a warning message on the dash, or no check engine light even after it finally started?

I kinda find it hard to believe that the dealer computer didn’t find anything stored since their computer sees way more than just a typical scan tool. The reason I say that is because the day I took my old truck in to get the passenger side airbag inflator recall addressed, they hooked their computer up to it as I brought it in and it was showing all sorts of stored codes from when I replaced my headlights with aftermarket ones, replaced the third brake light with an all LED one, and new LED taillights. The new headlights used different bulbs from what the originals were, and there was two bulbs instead of one so, it was showing all sorts of codes for all that being different and not stock. But, none of that ever showed a CEL, nor would any of that ever show up on a regular code reader either.

The tailgate piece. We covered that.
Um, lifting away is not the same as falling off.....

Oh and btw- those two little rubber strips that are in the channel there on the back of the cab in the corners, above the rear window- have already started lifting away on my truck. Some good 3M double-sided tape, and about ten minutes of my time fixed that up in a jiffy. Had to make that same repair on the last truck so, it wasn’t even worth getting upset over.

How does that help now?
It doesn’t. Well, it could someday, I suppose. I was just pointing that out in case if that truck continues to disappoint, there is a light at the end of the tunnel if you decided to trade that one off in a couple of years.

I've had my 18 White Ram Tradesman V6 quad cab (chrome bumpers and aluminum wheels, blue tooth infotainment, bedliner, trailer tow package, CD player, cloth seats, keyless entry) for 7 months and here are all my dislikes: headlights seem to shoot a tiny bit low, need a lift assist on the tail gate, no front tow hooks (I just got stuck twice) and worst of all I hate black carpet, its such a pain to keep clean! I bought my truck new for about $24K out the door so for the price I am absolutely thrilled with the truck. I love the ride, handling, braking, seats, engine information screen, power, gas mileage (averaging 21mpg in the city with alcohol gas) storage, seat fabric, transmission (very smooth and always in the right gear). I use the truck for my construction company work and drive about 38K miles per year and comfort is VERY important and I rode in a friends 2017 F-150 yesterday and it was a stiff and jittery one hour ride I was glad to get back in my Ram! If I could change anything I would be tempted to get 4 wheel drive but I hardly ever get stuck its just that in Oklahoma it has rained more this year than anytime in decades. I owned a Titan and Ford pickup that had limited slip rear ends and they were completely worthless so I guess I wish Ram would at least have a rear locking differential.

I believe there is an adjustment for the head lights.

I didn't think they would too hard to install but they are about 200 bucks, and it just seems like they shouldn't cost over about $20.

There’s quite a bit of steel involved, plus hardware and they’re from mopar. They’re not a universal kit.

But here’s a complete kit, tow hook-acceptable bumper bezels and all for $165. Normally those panels have to be bought separately or you could get creative with a Dremel and cut holes in the ones ya got.

Thanks I may get those tow hooks, but does anyone know of a good way to hook or tie on to the front frame to pull out a stuck Ram Tradesman without tow hooks!

Without tearing the front bumper off in the process? I have no idea.

Just curious but, what tires do you run on the back of that two-wheeler? You might even consider a set of tire chains too. Don’t laugh, even when I worked as a compressor mechanic back in sw Colorado years ago, we chained our 4WD work pickups front and rear in the winter just to traverse those ******, rutted out muddy lease roads, and that was even with BFG Mud-terrains. Chains would go on in the morning, and wouldn’t get taken off until the end of the day.

I have the stock street tires on the truck which give me an amazingly smooth and quiet ride and I drive about 38K miles per year so comfort is important. I plan on buying a set of chains but every two wheel drive truck I've owned including the ones with limited slip rear differential are worthless when its slick or muddy. Whichever wheel doesn't have good traction will spin and the other wheel just sits there.
