I have noticed twice when doing the 75 mph speed limit north of here that I get a harmonic wind noise but only when there is a cross wind. Has anyone noticed it? Heard of a fix for it? I see in the comments of the link below that there is supposed to be a bulletin on it as it's the backing plate on the mirror. Will be taking it in next week but was curious if anyone knew the bulletin number as it will save a ton of time at the dealer...especially if they can't duplicate it because there isn't a 75 mph area near the dealership.

You can also here it here:
And yes, this 2019 has been rock solid since the moment I took possession on October 11th. It drives perfectly and I've had no issues other than this...it's a keeper!

When you go to dealer for this. they will just hand you ear plugs as the fix . Most wind comes from the mirrors on the door of the truck

Show the dealer the video. That sound is not normal. My mirrors, powered not tow, have a wind sound to them with the windows down but it's not there with the windows up. My 19 Laramie was doing about 80 yesterday and no sound like that. You should also search for ANC drone on the forums. Not sure that's it but it's not normal. My dealers very good about fixing issues if I can show him what they are and you have good data with the recording.

Could be ANC, maybe have to reflash it. One time my ANC went stupid on MY 19, was hearing everything, acceleration, etc.,. luckily it reset.

But I am not 100% sold on Harmonics ANC, that really sounds like a wind noise. Definitely show SA at dealership video, all IMHO....

I had a droning sound at around 70. unplugged the ANC and all gone. last month I got a loud whistling noise on the drivers side
at 70-75 when driving thru an area where there was a strong cross wind. not a continuous whistle but a loud toot whenever there was a gust..I figure ineffective door seal but if you get any useful info from trip to dealer please share. am waiting to take mine in till I need an oil change so I can get several things done at one time.

If you think its the mirrors, hit the button to fold them in next time it happens. That should tell you if it's coming from them.

Funny you say this because my wife has this same issue on her Dodge Grand Caravan. Watched the video above and it's exactly what we hear.

I had a similar issue on my Grand Cherokee Summit, Mine was after the speed of 60 mph. The culprit was the cowl located at the base of the windshield. Check your cowl if you see any gap/separation where it meets the windshield, you are creating that harmonic sound and sometimes I had a vibration at the dashboard where it meet the glass. On the Jeep blog too many had their cowl's changed like I did. Warranty covered mine. The sun and engine warps the cowl. Its possible it could be your issue too.

Thanks for the tip Bluesurf. I checked and all appears solid on the lower cowling.

It's my daily driver and I haven't had any issues as the speed limit is 65 mph. Have changed my appointment to 15 November as that is my next full day off that I can take it in.

I just want to reiterate that this is the ONLY problem I've had with this truck and it isn't a problem as much as a minor inconvenience. I still love this truck - after owning Rams going back to 1996 - and am a satisfied customer. The big test will be the Service Department diagnosing and fixing the problem.

P.S. I too had the whistling sound...turned out it was my grandson happy as a clam in the back seat whistling away as we were going down the road to go fishing!

Active Noise Cancelling - for us old school
Husker fans that would be somewhat like a Sooner touchdown at Memorial Field on a fall Saturday!

I’ve lived with it for now as it is intermittent. I have an oil change in three weeks and they will check it then...but know it most likely won’t do it for them unless there is a cross wind.

Had this same sound right after I bought my truck last year.
I have a 2019 Ram and want it fixed. The whistle beep sound /vibration is also felt on the left hand side upper grip bar and by the right front passengers feet and right side dash/bar area. Cross winds make the sound unbearable and it is a design flaw. The weather stripping has already been replaced and good luck to the dealers finding the "whistle noise". I have two videos of the same sound on two different days with the cross wind blowing while driving through the desert. All we will get is "can't duplicate" from the dealers so they won't have to pay for the fix. Not cool. Been down this road before with other vehicles. Spent over 40k for a new truck and right off the bat problems. Loved my Jeep, not the Truck with issues that never should be happening.

After 7 months and 6800 miles I got the cross wind noise for the first time yesterday. 75+mph with a 20+mph right to left cross wind. Very intermittent as the the road was not straight as a bullet shot. Speed and angle of attack was a definite and, I would say fairly precise, factor. The sound I was hearing reminded me of blowing across a bottle top.

Looks like the only real difference in our trucks is 4x4 vs 4x2. So, other than you riding a few inches higher I’d say the trucks are a good comparison.

I’m thinking it has to do with how the wind crosses under the truck and passes under the step on the downwind side. The gap between the step and body, in front of the step mount and mud flap is pretty small. Enough air at the right speed and angle may create this sound. Or, I may just be crazy like my wife keeps telling me I am.

Curious if others hearing the same noise have similar set ups and hear it under the same conditions. Different steps and or mud flaps would change the factors and negate my theory.

Mine makes the same noise with crosswind conditions. I have the power side steps so they are retracted. Never owned a vehicle before that makes this noise

Thanks to COVID I’m working from home so only putting 10 miles a week on my truck at this point so next oil change will be in July. Will see what they can find when I drop it off and pray for crosswinds that day.

...and yes, I still love my Ram and believe Ram is the best on the market. Have owned Rams since the 1980s and still believe in the product. This is just a minor annoyance cause by an engineer who didn’t know what he/she was doing.
