AC. The 5th gen have horrible AC issues. Living in the mid west this was a huge problem. The vents show a 8 degree difference from driver to passenger side.
I made it till about July and traded my 5th gen for a classic. Took a little hit on the trade in but well worth it.

I would buy a Classic if I didn't have my 2015. I am not a fan of the styling of the 5th gen, it looks awkward to me.

I will say this though, the 5th gen looks WAY better than the GM, Toyota, or Nissan comparables.

Totally agree. I love my 2015 now that I have done all the mods to it especially. I like 4th gen dash a lot better comes across as more clean and functional to me. Bigger is not always better in my opinion which leads me to the 12" display option which is way to big for my tastes. The 8.4 is a great size plenty large enough but not overwhelming or too distracting. I mean the 5th gen I am sure is loved by it's owners and that is great but now that it is out and I have seen it glad I have a 4th gen.

For me it all came down to few things things

Price
To get what I wanted in a version of the new 5th gen would have cost me 12k (CAN) more than what I got my 5.7l Warlock for, and that was just to big of a margin.

Version
1st version of a new truck of a new anything is a gamble, the 4th gen is in its...10th 11th year? They have solved almost all issues by this point (or are pretty close)

Upgrades
You can do just about anything to a 4th gen and the aftermarket availability is amazing, the 5th get will get there eventually but it will take a while

Looks
To get a good looking 5th gen you into the higher end models, rebel, sport, larime, etc....the base models have the ****tly looking fronts IMHO, the sport looks good but the Rebel looks the best to me, but then to get that look it comes back to money

Give it a few years, once they sort some of the issues and get the eco eco diesel in it (and make sure it is sorted) and stop pricing it at a premium i will probably trade in for a 2025 crew crab Rebel with an eco diesel.

I spoke with a dealer and he said the 5th gens are at a premium, they all know it and he said it for 2 reason, it makes it easier to sell a classic 4th gen which they still have a **** ton off, and the 'have to be the first and have it now' people will get the 5th gens and pay the premium.

The 5th gen has some appealing features no doubt, my buddy got one the day after I got my Warlock...but the differences were cooled leather seats, 121 liter tank, 3:92 with lsd, push button start and a winch...all that for almost 20k more...my math says I can get all that installed on my warlock (minus the cooled leather seats) for 4 to 5k...so he paid 15k more for what exactly...flat rear floor, rear seats that incline slightly with more leg room? Not something i was going to shell out 15k for (oh and he has telescoping steering....that did bug me a bit....I would like that)

I recently looked at the "classics" and have a couple of questions. I could not find a "Sports" package--do they not offer them anymore? I also could not find any leather seats except in the Laramie model--do you have to buy the aftermarket leather seat covers? Side note---that build and price thing on the computer is a piece of **it.

Laramie is the only one with oem leather I believe. The dealer I got my classic from had 2 with added Katskin interior, 1 black, 1 silver. Added 5500 to price so no thanks. Plus I didnt want EITHER of those 2 colors

I thought the highest trim they were making of the classic was the big horn?

I think they are.
Sport and Laramies came with leather, but not in the Classic 2019, I agree, think Bighorn is highest model.

I wasn't sure if they had changed that. Are they continuing the classic into MY 2020?

I don't think they are. Where I just bought my new '19 classic, there were no '20 classics. All 2020 Rams were 5th gen. I'm glad I got one when I did.

And as to why I bought one instead of a 5th gen? That's easy I love the look of the 4th gen. The 5th gens are beautiful trucks with many improvements but I'm still not crazy about the design.

Edit: I might be wrong. I think you can still build a 2020 classic on the Ram website. I was just looking at it and I selected 2020 and the classic body and it started to let me build it.

Edit #2: This got me thinking. I tried Auto Trader and I could find NO 2020 classics. Under trim it wasn't listed like it is when you search for a 2019.

I just purchased a 2019 Warlock. Absolutely love it! I'm completely new to RAM so didn't even know what a Warlock was until the dealer rep took me around the lot. The 5th Gens were nice but the Warlock had my undivided attention. Well, once I drove the Warlock the game was over. Love the looks, especially the front, roomy interior, and comfortable ride. I'm not a fan of all the electronic gadgets. I like simple. I have enough electronic gadgets to deal with on a daily basis.

Never had a Ram (or truck for that matter) but picked up a 2019 Classic a couple weeks ago. While I am warming up to the 5th gen body style, I just love the 4th gen looks and am glad the classic exists so I can get a newer truck in that style.

For me its that I have to work on my own stuff a lot. ( not saying u don't) and I struggle with electronics so I try to avoid them as much as possible. I have a First gen and a third generation and the have the 5.9 cummins in them and they don't have near the electronics my dads 2017 has

The 5th Gen looks ok, and is surely an upgrade over Gen 4's in most ways. If they made Gen 5 RCSB's, and the price was similar, I'm not sure which way I would have went, but I wanted a RCSB, and paid $25.7k for a non-stripped Express with a sticker of $37k. I wouldn't have been able to buy a Gen 5 for that price even if they made a RCSB.

I bought my '19 classic almost a year ago. I was interested in the 5th gen but the dealership got me in this used one with 13k miles for 29k out the door and its crew cab, 6.5 bed, and 4wd. 13k miles past new and about 15k off the price I couldn't turn it down lol.

I was set on a new Rebel (don’t like the 5thgen styling on other trims).

But the incentives on the ‘19 Classic Laramie are crazy. The Laramie gives up just a little in off-road (stock) and the Rebel gives up just a little to the Laramie on features.

in the end, the overall cost difference (including fuel and finance costs) will literally pay for the travel trailer I want to get for the family.

Hard to find Crew cab with 6.5 bed. Congrats. Is it 4x4 and do you have a photo of it?
