I just ordered the Callahan Drilled/Slotted brakes from Amazon for $189. Whats odd is they shipped from Powerstop. Powerstop brakes for $189 would be one hell of a deal.

Probably left over from Tommy Boy...

Having powerstop drilled/slotted rotors and pads intalled today. Will let you know what i think.

Side note, is there a break in procedure for these?

You have to bed the pads, the instructions are very clear how to do it!

Another vote for Wagner OEX Pads, They are heavy duty pads and little to no rust ! I forgot the brand of the rotors but that is what the parts store had ! Non Coated ! Next set will be the coated rotors no matter what brand as I hate seeing rust ! I picked up a Set of Wagner Coated Rotors and OEX pads for my son's F 150 and he loves them. Been on his truck a few k miles

I've been running slotted and dimpled (not drilled) with ceramic pads on all my vehicles for several years. Yes, they're a little dustier than normal pads, but the improvement in breaking is worth it. I just threw on a set of caliper covers and that has kept my wheels clean without any negative effects. I'm not a break rider though.IMG_0526.JPG IMG_0527.JPG

I've had good luck with Stop Tech Slotted Rotors and EBC Green Brake pads for my 2008 RAM 1500 SLT Big Horn. I had warping issues and they were a huge improvement over stock and stopped the warping.20190304_115728.jpg

I did mine last year and ordered mine from Detroit Axel and they sent everything I need to include brake fluid, cleaner and all the new clips to boot. Very satisfied. Went through Amazon.

I just ordered the PowerStop Z36 full kit off Amazon two days ago (and it arrived this morning - one box - poor ******* that had to deliver it). I had originally just ordered pads affter hearing a grinding noise on a trip home. Pulled the rear wheels and found three ok pads, but the inside pad on rear passenger side was down to metal and doing a decent job or turning down the rotor. I'm assuming the caliper pins are stuck on that wheel. The Z36 pads had a great rep - I figured rotors should be good too. I saw both the Callahan and Detroit Axle, and they had decent enough reviews too (and they were cheaper by $100-$200). The Powerstop kit for 4 wheels was $381. We do a lot of hill driving and the truck is full of humans and stuff (and sometimes trailer as well), so I figured go with "the best". I had zero interest in drilled and slotted, but there was no other option showing. Interestingly, Amazon said that I could get them installed for $216 "for the kit" - a lose lose, since I would not pay more than that for the job, but I would never let anyone do a complete brake job who was charging $200 to do it - so I'm doing it tomorrow. Biggest pain in the **** is compressing the calipers - I got a Harbor Freight tool kit for it, but the last brake job I did it didn't help much. I've already pulled the backs off once to resolve an e-brake issue, so hopefully they come off easier this time.

Make sure they put you kit together correctly because i ordered a powerstop kit off amazon Al's for my daughters Cherokee and when i had it all apart and opened the box for the rotor I immediately saw the size difference. When I called powerstop to confirm individual part numbers (pads/rotors) the woman LAUGHED and said "I guess the person packing it from out factory was dislexic and reversed numbers ad put the wrong rotors in the kit". Wow, real funny, she was then as arrogant as they come as to not being of any assistance. Due to HER arrogance I will never deal with that company ever

For those that think they have warped a rotor, not unless you got it red hot. Most "Warping" is do to failure to seat at all or to seat correctly the brake pads. Seating brake pads heats them up and discharges an VOCs etc. remaining in the material after manufacture and "cures" the pad. Failure to seat will cause micro amounts of material to be left on the face of the rotor on the 1st hot stop. You can attempt to remove material should this happen by going thru a seating / break-in process for brake pads.

As for brakes, huge fan of Powerstop drilled and slotted and Z36 on our big trucks and Z23 on small SUV and small pickups (i.e. S10). I had them on my F150 and they are on the 1997 GMC Sonoma w/ factory ZQ8 suspension. I have yet to find a heat level in which the brakes start to fade or underperform.
