That is the column shift brake interlock, it keeps the shifter from moving if the brake is not depressed. It clips on the steering column

I had a feeling that's what it was gonna be lol. Looks like one of your tabs broke. So here's the problem. Can't buy those separate from the shift cable. So either have to see if someone has one lying around or find one at the junkyard. I might still have mine from when I redid my interior. If I do, its not doing me any good. You can have it.
