I recently ordered a set of 305/70/17 cooper discoverer AT3 XLT tires and I have the option of doing white letter. Should I do it? Usually not a fan of it but my truck kinda has old school looking wheels and I’d kinda be a subtle throwback... I know it’s not that big of a deal but I don’t wanna have any regrats

White letters add extra time to cleaning and detailing and they look like crap if you scuff them up on rocks, curbs, and whatever. IMHO it's just not worth the extra detail time. I also don't think white letter tires mounted with the letters inside looks very cool either.

I went back and forth on this then decided to put the white letters out on mine because it's a white truck wit stock chrome wheels, so it works. If they were juts the outlined white letters, no, they would face inside no matter what, but the full white letters depend on the overall aesthetics and tire sidewall height. The Cooper's have the full white letters, so I would google the tire and see how they look on similar trucks. They do require the extra maintenance so they don't look trashy, but at least it's easily reversible if you don't like it.

I've seen white letters give a nice contrast to the murdered out look you have going.

Try it out and if you don't like it, just flip them bad boys around and you're good haha.

Another vote for white letters OUT!

I’m leaning towards white out.... it’ll break up the black like mentioned and the tires aren’t as aggressive so I’m concerned it’ll be too much black rubber[emoji2369]. Does the lettering make the tires look bigger? To me it kind of does

I always had white out on my muscle cars back in the 70's & 80's, but then that's how we did it. Now I'm not a fan, especially on a truck that's going to see any type of dirt use. We just got back from a two week trip hauling our trailer all over northern Nevada and southern Idaho and a lot of it on dirt roads from smooth to jack-you-up washboard and my truck got trashed, wheels and tires looked like crap. White letters would have been marked up, not worth it to me. If you're a detail freak then go for.

I always have the black out, even had the stockers flipped on the first rotation mostly because of the cleaning and OCD. But there is whitewall pens out there, that will help with the touchups.

In, i don't care to keep the white letters in any of my tires regardless of the vehicle, plus in my offroad applications i'll rub the white out against rocks and make a cluster **** with the white letters. A rare ocassion my truck and tires are shinny lol
Little watter and soap to clean the dirt on them , and then i spray the oily tire chit to keep them shinny for a week

Normally my tires will have some dust them daily, lol

Is really up to you. The day you're getting them mounted ask your installer to show you how they'll look. they can mount one tire with the white letters in and another out so you can see them in the truck live. Should be easier to make a decision then.

Your wheels look similar to mine with the bolt around the edge. Looks good in your application [emoji106][emoji106]. If I off road it’s usually mud I’m looking for lol. I’m not playing on rocks... also, back roads for fishing and hunting is the craziest of gets or a farm field she’s street queen 80% of the time and apparently a frickin garbage can for kids

I never used beer to clean my truck, just drink it. Couldn't resist... :happy175:

The one time I put white letters out, I lent my truck to a friend and it came back with curb rash and slightly less readable words...:fca5278d:

Yeah I know, the lesson about lending $hit to friends...
