So figured id do a little write up on how to put in a remote start on any 4th gen ram for under $100, well im not sure about the diesels, it might be different?

So for all this you will need:
Xbpresskit Combo DBALL
CHTHD1 T-Harness
You can get it flashed for your correct model, sending them an email with your model and desired application, and they will flash it.
Screwdriver
10 minutes of your time

STEP 1:
Take off the knee pad underneath the steering wheel, theres 2 screws on the bottom
07uLK.jpg
after taking those out, just pull up and it will pop off, set that on the floor.

Whew, hard parts over, lotsa work.

Step 2: look at key insert and you will see that there is one plug in on the back of it. you can unplug it by depressing the top clip and pulling
You will then need to take the CHTHD1 harness, plug the male plug you just pulled out, into the female connector on it, and plug the male from the CHTHD1 harness into the key insert box. then plug the Red male connector into the DBALL xpress box.

Step 3: the DBALL xpress box will be RED, plug your keyfob into the key slot, turn it to ON, it will flash green, take it out and it will turn solid green. It is now programmed.

Press lock 3 times, and your truck will start! press it 3 more times and it will turn off.

Put your kneeboard back on put in the screws, and your good to go.

Hopefully this was helpful, maybe a few people will get some use out of it!

Great write up. I just bought one for the wife's Jeep for Christmas. To add to it for everyone, I did a the research and it should work for all Dodge/Chrysler/Jeeps 2006 and up. '06 through '08 use the CHTHD2 harness and CHTHD1 for the '09 and up.

I tried using the search function but can't seem to locate info on how to obtain the kit and the harness. Is there another thread with details?
Thanks.

EDIT: Google is a great thing. Found a combo kit on ebay. Not sure of the $84.00 price though. That's before shipping. Anyone find it cheaper?

That's should be the right one. It was "doug" something. You get the unit, harness and he programs it for you. From what I found, if you buy the items separate, it's around $45 for the unit, $30 for the harness and another $30 for the program so a little cheaper if you get it packaged.

Great writeup! This is a great idea for those that don't have factory remote start.

I'm pretty sure it would work for you mad dog, on the eBay sellers website it will say compatability, and it it doesn't just send him an email he answers quick.

It's extremely easy to do and handy!

I can agree this is probably one of the easiest and nicest mods to do, especially since winters coming in.

I got mine from a guy on ebay. His name is 2009menachem. Seems to be a pretty stand up guy. Answered all my questions quickly and very professionally. I will be buying another from him soon for the charger.

I'm not sure, you'll have to look on the eBay sellers ad, or send him an email? I'm not sure on how your guys harness is set up back there
