    If I were in your position I would get the 1000s ( I previously was and I did). They will be more than sufficient for any sane towing setup on a 1500.     If the truck is wandering I'd get the alignment checked. Too much toe out can cause this also.

    You are supposed to fill them before you load them. If you fill them first the truck most definitely sits higher than with them empty.

    Also if you have chrome bumpers sometimes the upper valance and the chrome bumper can rub together and make a horrible squeaking noise. I've had this happen on two of my Ram 1500s 2011 and 2013. it usually was rubbing right under the outside edge of the headlights.
