    Synthetic Oil

Kirkland 5W-30 experience: My truck sits for 2-3 weeks at at time due to having a company vehicle the past 2 years. Usually it is driven to the recycling center or a 1500 mile round trip. I have been using Redline 5W-30 for about 80K miles. Truck is now at 90 K miles. Every time I started the...

    8hp70 heater bypass

I should have mentioned I left the existing eletric and clutch fans in place. Hemi just seems a lot happier at 185 deg and I'm not cooking that expensive Redline I am running! :)

Nice! Now remove those radiator shutter slats (leave top and bottom one in) and install a 180 Degree Stat and you'll have it knocked. I live in SC as well and coolant runs 185-190 summer and 185 otherwise.

    Exhaust Manifolds | Warped

Real work in a real shop costs real money. 2 year warranty and one throat to choke. I'm 66 yrs old and the thought of laying on the ground all weekend just doesn't excite me anymore. But to each his own as they say....

    Exhaust Manifolds | Warped

Yup it's back. Short term fix and then clunking again.

    8hp70 heater bypass

Pic of my ESIC while towing a 4000 Lb travel trailer last week. 180 degree T'stat and shutter delete. PPE tranny pan No Caulk Bypass - it's in the cabinet in the garage. Even with the 180 degree T'stat and PPE pan the tranny temps get way too high for my liking. Engine is much happier...

    Backup camera not working

Had the same issue. I used to bang the tailgate with my hand to get it working. Then opened the inspection plate on the tailgate, pulled both of the connectors off and cleaned. Then used dielectric grease. Made sure they are buttoned up tight and have had success since.

When Not to Use Redline Thread

I have been running Redline 5W-30 and RP 20-820 (large filter) since 5K miles. Truck has 76K miles on it. Change the oil per the truck oil life indicator. Last two UOA's from Blackstone were great. No tick, no slap. I am sticking with RL 5W-30. No need to try and fix what isn't broken. On the 8...

    Broken exhaust manifold bolts

I just had both side done with aftermarket manifolds (non-oem) @ 70K miles. Shop in my area does at least one job a week. $1200. with a 2 year warranty. Do not use factory (OEM) manifolds. They are not heat soaked and will warp again. Dealers that reaplce them with OEM manifolds (beacuse they...

    8hp70 heater bypass

MRFREEZE57, I removed the shutters and replaced the stock thermostat with a 180 degree t'stat. I left the clutch and e-fans stock. Coolant temp runs 185 consistently unless I am pulling hills etc where it might get to 192. Never see the 200+ anymore like I had with the stock setup. Oil temps are...

    8hp70 heater bypass

I like the idea of using the ramps. Lots of solid surface under both wheels. I scavenged some LVL beam scraps from the new homes they are building in my area. Put them under the floor jack and the safety stands to get me reasonably close to level. I used wheel chocks at the front wheels as...

    Such an average AC

I wrapped the Suction line (larger freon line) from the firewall entrance through the fender (gotta work for it) and across the front of the engine to around the dipstick area. I used Armaflex AC insulation I had on hand. Regular pipe insulation from the big box stores will work too. Try to get...

Here is the pic of a PPE pan installed. Notice the location of the drain plug.

    PPE Pan on a 2016 5.7 Hemi - 8HP70?

Very easy install. Take your time and remove the silver bolt guides/sleeves from the plastic (OEM) pan. Then take a round fine tooth file to hollow out the holes on the PPE pan so the bolt sleeves fit snugly. This will take 20-30 minutes of "fitting" to get them in. Then once the sleeves are in...

ZF8 - PPE Pan Install and D6 Changeout to Maxlife

@DanielOrtiz I did try to get the truck to shift to 2nd gear by putting it in D and then revving. But ike others have said the truck shudders and then ESC kicks in. I tried it several times but did not get it to shift to 2nd. @WildOne Any idea on how much fluid is in those clutch circuits...
