The Max life is just under $33 for five litres at Walmart. I find that doing a ZF8 drain and fill is only slightly more complex than doing a differential. Fully agree. I have 203,000 km on my 2015 Ram 1500. Changed the fluid at 100k and then again at 200k - using Valvoline ATF seems fine. Easy to do and the after market pan works just fine. Lots of YouTube videos and everyone of average skill can do it. Changing the fluid refreshes the...- UHB1

Interesting, with over 300k miles on the transmission the first question is always, “ was the fluid ever changed before?” If not, even if you put in the right fluid you are asking for trouble. With that kind of mileage, oxidation and varnish build up will have occurred and it is too late to... -

It is about 4.5 litres for a simple drain and fill. Draining will get a little over 1/3 of the fluid out.
