It cycles from high to low after about 2 minutes then turns completely off after about another minute. I can turn it right back on but it just repeats the cycle

But if you let it sit for 5 -10 minutes will it come back on it's own?

Lol some of you guys replies are comical. I don't have the leather but instead have the cloth seats and have ONLY the heated seats, no ventilated seats. The seats are not getting hot. They barely get warm. It's not turning off because of ther outside temperature, that has nothing to do with it. The drivers side stays on fine but as I mentioned it gets warm at best. The passenger side doesn't even get warm it just turns back offrom after a few minutes. We've tried this with someone in the seat and without someone in the seat and get the same results. If it was in fact something to do with the outside temp, wouldn't the driver seat turn off too?? So therefore there is definitely a fault somewhere within the passenger side. I've opened a case with Ram and will see how they tell me to proceed.
Since you seem to know the all of the answers WHY come on here and ask questions?Just curious??

I don't know all the answers. some of you guys are just saying the seats must be getting to their max temp, or it's too hot outside for them to be on. None of that is the case, I at least know that. I'm not trying to get in a ******* match with anyone. just some of the replies, at least in my opinion, hinted toward that fact that I was an idiot and didn't understand how the seats functioned.

I may have read too deep - anyhow, moving on. I mainly made this thread for other guys out there who I know are having the same issue. Maybe we can find a solution. Here's a video I made of the problem. I don't actually intend on trying to lemon law the truck. I've done too much crap to it for that. but, If Chrysler offers to put me into a new 2019, I wouldn't complain lol

Running heated seats in warm weather is dangerous, and you can receive serious burns or start a fire. Most modern vehicles have thermal shut offs in place as was already mentioned. Don't run your heated seats in the summer – ever.

WHAT?" Don't run your heated seats in the summer – ever"...…. LMAO

I'm sure you tried this already but does it do the same thing if someone is sitting in the passenger seat? I'm wondering if it detects no weight on the seat kind of like the seat belt chime and turns off since nobody is supposedly sitting on the seat. Either way I've not had any vehicle just turn off before.

On a side note my '15 1500 Sport turned off the steering wheel heater at 30 minutes, every time. I don't remember the heated seats ever turning off though.

One would think the outside ambient air temperature would come into play on how long the seats would stay heated.I live in michigan so I ONLY run the heated seats when cold. When i start my truck in the winter the heated steering wheel and seat come on automatically.Another question Why then state in your original post you opened case with lemon law if you don"t intend to?

Ive opened a case with Ram customer care. If they end up not finding a solution and direct me to doing a possible lemon law case, then I will. But I'd rather not go that route. I'm thinking a simple update is all that's needed.

Ya, it happens if someone is sitting in the seat and happens if they're not. So no luck there.

I am pretty sure Ram customer care WILL NOT direct you to open up a lemon law case.

I doubt it too. The guy at the dealer told me if theres no fix for it then that may be the option they suggest. Who knows.

On my way home from work I pushed the passenger heated seat button on, both lights stayed on till I got home, it was 21 minutes but might have went longer. At no time did it turn off the back, they both stayed on the entire time.

Ya I never had any issue with my 2016 or 17. Those seats actually got pretty warm to where I would have to turn them down or I'd heat myself right out of the seat lol

Owners manual statement of operation does not allude to any outside temp requirements for heated seat use. It does talk about a 4 minute "boosted heat level" when first turned on high setting that times out after 4 minutes and then should go into a normal hi setting for 60 minutes and then changing to the low setting that runs for an additional 45 minutes. There is no stated differentiation between the drivers and passenger seat.

The OP stated symptom of only getting the first "4-5 minutes" of operation and then nothing is a problem that should be rectified.

Wait, so pressing the button once for HI setting, how many lights light up, one or two? Would this be the same for the vented button? One light means HI and two means low?

Two lights means high. One light means low.

That's what i thought too, but in the photo above it says press once for HI. Maybe that's just for the heated seats and the vented seats are once for LOW and twice for HI?
