I try to keep my vehicle as empty as possible as much as i can, and only lug around what i consider to be necessities.

What do you keep in your truck at all times?

For me:
15ft jumper cables, 4 straps and ratchets, 8'x10' tarp, pocket knife, scissors, small toolkit with socket set & screwdrivers, microfiber rags, chrome polish spray, extra phone charger, 6ft extension cord and a spare pair of glasses in case i lose a contact while im out and about.

I'd ditch the jumper cables for a battery jump pack (can also be used to recharge phones if your car dies and you have no power and cellphone is at 2% charge heh), more convenient and safer for the electronics of many vehicles. I keep that with a first aid kit, flashlight, pens, tire repair kit, inflator, mechanics gloves, microfibers, blue shop towels, sun glasses, hats, sunscreen, bug repellent, water, LED "flares", two fold out chairs, old charged and updated Garmin as backup, duck tape, orange tie down straps, two red cotton rags, and a compact folding multitool pliers thingy.

I once had a pretty complete bug-out bag, but now have a small road emergency kit with tools, jumpers, air compressor, flares, fire extinguisher, seat belt cutter, etc. A flip knife, 2 ft ice scrapper, tarp, four ratchet straps, four bed-length bungies, yellow micro towels (and a red one for long cargo), some bleacher seats and camp chairs for kid's sporting events, a 1/2 case of water for sports, but its there if I need it.
I also have a loose Item box from Duluth that has dividers and a bottle opener that can keep other stuff from sliding around if I need to carry it.
So I'm screwing my gas mileage, but I'm ready for weekend tasking....

Hitch
several ratchet straps
tow strap
small tool kit
wd40
a couple knives
sunscreen (I'm a red head)
bungee cords
baseball glove
golf clubs (season dependent)
usually some miscellaneous ammo
rope

And some others things, I'd have to go lift of the back seat to be certain. Now, all of this gear didn't go in at once. I've been adding and subtracting things since I bought the truck.

I just added a flare, first aid kit, and gloves this morning. Cant believe i didnt think of those from the start.

I also forgot to mention I keep several lighters, an emergency pack of Marlboro Reds, and my Glock17 that usually stays in the truck. My 27rd extended mag stays in the locked glove box at all times unless im at the range.

Lots of carpentry tools and such....just built a tongue and groove flat 'box' for the toolboxes to ride in so they don't slide around. Four more tool bags go in the bed every morning.

Thanks....we just did a job where we replaced the wood in a sauna...not the usual deck job but the leftovers came in handy. Perfectly clear cedar [$6 a linear foot] made a fine surface for the rails [also cedar but rough 2x2]. It only weighs a few pounds and won't tax the supports too much.

When I was an engineer in the Navy, we used to say "Ship happens." Typically when losing weekends and holidays to fix broken lowest bidder built crap. Really glad Avondale as an independent yard went belly up.
