Hey guys & gals!

I'm considering buying a bed rug for my Ram. I have a truck shell on the back, which I love. I also have a spray-in bedliner, which is nice, but really hard on my knees and ankles when crawling up in there to get stuff in/out. It's also a little abrasive on some stuff you might want to slide in and out of the bed without scratching it all up.

So I'm looking at the bedrug bottom only, as well as the gator one bottom only. I'm curious how those of you who have this thing like it or don't like it. I carry mostly power tools and supplies in the back of my truck - chop saw, table saw, etc. Also plumbing/electrical supplies, sometimes lumber (I have a hitch extender). Once in a while leftover trash. Sometimes I leave the tailgate down to carry the longer stuff.

How well does this thing work to hold things in place? Can you slide stuff in easily without worrying about it sliding all over the place when you *don't* want it to move? How easy is it to clean when you do get stuff in there - I don't carry much dirt or stuff like that but sawdust tends to accumulate because of the saws.

If anyone has any pics of this in their truck that would be great too!

I've got the full Mopar bedrug and really love it. It's great on the knees.

I had my previous truck Linex'd and it was brutal on the knees. I put a heavy duty rubber mat over the Linex so soften it a bit and prevent stuff from sliding around.

Most stuff I put in the bed stays put with the bedrug.

I don't really test the durability of the bedrug....my Ram is a commuter vehicle/grocery getter. I've heard from a buddy that has one that you can rinse pretty much anything off of it with no ill effects. Apparently he has had mulch in it and what not. My concern with stuff like mulch and dirt would be that it would get stuck in the seams etc.

Put one in my '17 shortly after buying it. The spray in liner was killing my knees and shins too. I got the bed part along with the sides as well. Love the whole thing! Stuff in the bed stays put pretty well.

And as far as cleaning: un-velcro it, throw it on your lawn or driveway and hit it with a pressure washer. I gave up on using tarps to try and keep it clean, so Ive had:

3/4" trap material (disgusting - pebbles, 3/4" gravel and stone dust all mixed), mulch, topsoil, random brush to dispose of, concrete leftoffs (cut pieces of retaining wall block, etc)

Its all come out of the "rug" with a quick pressure wash. The plastic/foam backing keeps it from holding water so even after 15 minutes of washing it dries pretty quickly.

The only thing I suggest is that you get an adhesion promotor for the velcro backing....it wont stick too well to the bed liner. BedRug makes an installation kit for those of us with spray in liner, its basically the adhesion promotor and some strips of heavy duty velcro (to go in place of the lighter duty velcro it comes with). One of these days Ill need to upgrade all of the velcro on mine, as its started to peel off the spray in liner, even where I used the promotor.

I have one and love it. I have a spray in liner as well though.
My fear was something sharp going through and scratching the bed then having the bedrug trapping moisture creating rust that I wouldn't be able to see.
If that makes sense.

I had one in my 14 Sport with a spray in liner for the same reason, knees. It was an Access bedmat and I liked it so well I cut it down (6'4" to 5'7" bed) for my 19 Laramie. With a cap they stay dry and after I spilled a strong cleaner on it I proved they could be cleaned.

I recommend them

I would suggest getting the full kit so you don’t get things between the mat. Personally had a ton of mulch/topsoil etc in it, convenient to power-wash it clean right in the bed where bedliner will look like **** the first time it’s scuffed up. I’d compare it to the early synthetic sports turf without the rubber pellets, extremely durable material that will last for years.

I paid $163 for my bedrug from bedrug.com. When I opened the box I thought it was a joke as all I saw was packing foam. After I unrolled it I found that indeed it is crappy packing foam with a fuzzy top, very light and cheap. I put it in and it does do the trick, it protects the liner and my knees, but its far from what I expected or would engineer as a good product. I also poo poo'ed their instructions to scrap and scratch the liner coating smooth in order to put in the Velcro strips. I just laid it in without them and hope it will settle and hold in time.
On a side note, I had a modded 1995 Z71 which I put in a thick rubber mat and on top of that a nice oriental rug. Man the chicks dug that!

I bought one for the 8' bed and cut it for the 5' 7" bed - fit perfect and the cut pieces were just the right size to do the front and tailgate. I didn't get the side kit.

I have the bedrug impact liner, it’s more of a cushioned rubber liner. It’s available with or without the carpet sides, I opted just for the bottom/tailgate portion myself

i just bought a rubber mat at home depot for 17 bucks. sits beside my tool tote and cleaning tote. if i wanted to go wild, i could buy another one. and make 2 fit perfectly. i find it saves my knees, too.

Thanks for the replies all - it looks like most people really like theirs. I think I will probably get just the bottom, as I like having the capability of using the built-in ledges for tiering the bed when necessary. I'll post some pics up when I get it in!

Like many... I've had multiple bedrugs in multiple trucks. Especially with a topper or tonneau - they are great. Easy on the knees, can slide things in and out, clean up easy, and you can even sleep back there! Also, I think it makes the truck quieter, especially with the full sidewall bedrug.

I've had a Bedrug on a previous truck, and I loved it. My last truck, I bought a rubber stall mat from the feed store for $45, it did the trick too.

I have one and love it. My kids play in the back often and it is really comfortable/durable. I have also hauled dirt and it cleaned up like new. 5 stars
