Hi,
I want to replace my 2015 Limited eco diesel after market grill which I have mounted an LED light bar to, with a new grill that has the LED light bar built in to it. It would also be nice to get the 3 little orange marker lights on it as well. But I see either the marker lights, OR the light bar, not both on a grille. I have found a few light bar grille brands:
T-Rex - LOVE these, functional and look nice without all the “industrial” looking rivets showing. EXEPT, they are $1,200 plus!!

Amazon has a few that are anywhere from $130 to $400, but almost every one of them has the “industrial” looking rivets around the outside.

My limited has a lot of chrome, so the rivets don’t match it at all. Any other ideas out there???

Does your truck have active shutters? If it does have active shutters a new grill with the light bar integrated into it won’t work. There’s not enough clearance. That’s what I’ve heard anyways.

I know the voices in my head aren’t real, but man, do they ever come up with some great ideas

This is the one that I got

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JQMM6JH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm not a huge fan of the LED bars, but in the past I have mounted them behind the grill and it turned out pretty slick.

Thanks, those are the ones on Amazon I’ve been looking at, I just wish somebody would make one of these WITH a light bar built in as well! I might buy one of these and mount the light bar behind it at the bottom... if it will fit (see next message....)....

I’m not 100% sure. When I look in there, it looks like it does, BUT when I changed the grill last time, it looked to me like they were “fake” shutters, aka I did’t think they actually moved.... but I could be wrong!! But in either case, there is a ton of space in there between the grill and radiators, I can’t see space being the issue. I’ll check on this again to be sure. The other question is, what do I mount the light bar to in there...? I’d assume I have to fabricate a mounting bracket somehow....

The grill shutters would be listed on the build sheet if you've ever looked that up before? I feel like I've generally seen these on the higher trim levels but I could be wrong on that. My 13 sport and 17 longhorn both had them.

Well, I have not found a grill with both the amber LED’s at top and a built in light bar. So I just ordered the $100 Tidal grill with the 3 amber LED’s at the top.

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/183898160831

I will attempt to either mount my light bar behind it at the very bottom (if there is enough space), OR I’ll cut out a space at the bottom of the grill to fit my light bar so it can be mounted as flush as room behind it will allow for.

Will post pics when done. For $100, if I don’t like how it comes out, I can just throw it away. ;)

Look at Rough Country led grills. Then just add the three Amber lights yourself. $400.00 shipped

Thanks, but I don’t want any “rivets” or bolts showing like on that one. Those are nice on the black out or industrial looking trucks, but my limited is chrome... the industrial look doesn’t work. T-Rex grills do the same thing, they need to make a less industrial looking model.

That rough country model also looks to cover way to much of the air flow, looks like 3/4 of the grill is covered with the light or the flat sheet metal/plastic. I would not like that either....

I would say most likely the truck has them being a limited, although I'm not sure about eco diesels...still it would say on the build sheet, if you want to look that up just click on this link and enter your vin # (I believe all letters must be capitalized) at the end of the address after the =:

https://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/BuildSheetServlet?vin=

On my 17 longhorn, it shows them on page 6 under the optional equipment list.

Update! DONE! Bought a $110 grill on Ebay with the 3 amber LED lights built in, and mounted my LED light bar behind it. The new grill is like the old ford grills with a honey-comb like pattern, so it is very open (aka will not block the LED light when turned on). It actually turned out awesome, very happy camper. I just hated the original OEM grill, then hated the chrome grill I replaced it with (and mounted the LED light bar in front of, really UGLY!) even more! I love this one, and it was 100 bucks for heavens sake.

New $110 grill, with 3 amber LED's built in, and my light bar mounted behind it. I also added tow hooks, and moved my jumper cable and and block heater plugs from where the tow hook space is, up into the bottom corners of the new grill:

So I think my truck went from an ugly front end, to an uglier front end, to a very nice looking and functional front end. What do you guys think? And don't hold back, feel free to says it sucks! ;-)

It does look much better. I’ve been thinking of getting a grill like that too.

I guess its all a matter of taste, I like a bit of a louder grill, and chrome is still in with me. Your latest choice looks clean, and mean.4A.jpg

Yes, my truck has the active shutters. And yes, the new grill fits fine along with the light bar behind it which we mounted on a custom made cross bar (just a flat piece of stock metal that is bolted to the braces on either side of the radiators/grill shutters. Easy to install, and works perfect. Been very happy with this setup, and I hated my old setup.

Yes of course it’s a matter of taste. ;-). But I also do like some chrome, and my Limited still has lots of it. The original OEM grill my truck came with had some chrome on it, which I was fine with, I just didn’t like the rest of the shape of that grill along with the fake headlight holes in it.... I was ok with it’s chrome though (Check my pictures above). However, the ALL chrome grill I replaced it with did not look good at all. I had put a similar all chrome grill on my last truck (and f150) at it looked fine, but this one just did not look good, AND the LED light bar mounted in front of it made it even worse.

Yours looks fantastic. I actually love that setup, very nice!! Is that an OEM grill that came with the LED lights? OR did your add the LED lights? OR, is it an aftermarket grill?

PS- I have a “Rampage” yacht/sport fish, just put it up for sale. ;-)

Thanks for the compliment, yes this is an aftermarket grill, and it came with the lights, the rest of the custom work all belongs
to me so to speak. It comes all black, cost around $150.00 dollars on e-bay, or amazon. the quality isn't bad at all for the price, Hey if it gets broken? I'll just buy another one. Oh! on the chrome thing, I wasn't suggesting you didn't like it' I was mearlly saying
it doesn't seem to be a sawt after thing anymore. Everybody seems to be going for the blacked out look, nothing wrong with it, I just like other people seeing me coming from miles away...… Keep up the good work' :)
