Would you buy a 2014 2500 6.4 with 270k on it?

Although they are probably highway miles I'd pass.

@270k miles!?

Wouldn't pay a penny over $8500 for the thing, because odds are near-perfect the crankcase is full of Motor Honey, the radiator is full of Stop-Leak, and the salesman is full of crap.

Hit up kbb.com and plug in all the relevant bits, assuming "good" condition... bet you'll be surprised by what comes out.

Can't see location of op while using phone. Might be a lot lower than 270000 miles of he is canadian, But if he is in the states, the dealer most likely gave him about 200.00 on a trade.

I’d offer them scrap price for it. The power train could go any day or go another 200k. Not worth the risk with any real money invested.

While you are doing the KBB, change the mileage to 70k.

The prices on these trucks are crazy.

I want to buy another 2nd Gen V10...diesels aren't the only thing going for high prices. I would like to sell my wife's 2003 and get a 2003 with the V10...oh I have found them...17000 bucks with oh about 180000 miles.

Someone will buy that truck for 14000. Heck I bet with 70k it is still a 30k truck. You can fix alot for that much, as long as it has a good body with no other issues, the engine and transmission is the easy part.

Heck, some first Gens with good bodies and lots of miles are in the 10 to 20k range these days.

Trucks are popular. They demand a price. People with money are buying them to have them.

I can not wait till the bottom falls out, so I can get some more cheap.

Beat them up on the price and take it home as a 2nd vehicle.

while the mileage is High, at $10k- why not. All the stuff that will nickel and dime you has had to of been replaced, but at $10k you can likely afford to invest a little, how clean is the interior? Ask for a new driver seat and steering wheel, as they have got to be destroyed lol.

A Laramie Mega Cab is going to hold quite a bit of value. That is what makes this worthwhile. If you are buying it because you can only afford 14k, probably pass, but you can see the deal if you can afford to fix it also.

Here one is with 70k

Lots of good answers already. My .02, if you can get it for under 10k and plan to use it as a spare only, and it has a nice body, paint and interior, and no or minimal surface rust, then yes.

Otherwise, no. The dealer probably gave the owner $5k or less trade value. I just traded a nice 05 Ford escape, 124k miles, minimal rust with decent paint and interior and you should have seen some of the low ball bs trade values I was being given. It was a joke and all part of the stealership games they play.

Hit them low if you decide to go for it. Offer 7k. Good luck

The high mile truck is a gamble. Engine and trans/transfer of course are the big ones. Either one is going to hit you for more than 5k on the very cheap side. I just freshened my ‘04 Diesel. Front end, interior, injectors, brakes, an axle and misc broken stuff. $7500 it’s only got 125k mi. Not that it’s comparable but it just shows the wear and tear at 125k.
