How often do they update GPS navigation?
Website says maps on my 2018 2500 are up to date, but roads are wrong, and this morning, it directed me to turn into on coming traffic.

Every 2-3 years they do an update is what I’ve been told.

Crap... Truck just tried to kill me again! Twice in one day now.

Had me turn right onto a street with no signs, right into traffic coming at me.
Luckily, I whipped into someone's driveway.

I usually use Nav as a crutch to remind me when I haven't gone some where in a while.
Today I had to go to a new town (Jersey City) which is a nightmare to drive in on a good day, so I had to rely on the Nav for directions. Never again.
Time to buy an RV Nav with frequent updates anyway for up coming trips.

On a funny/not funny note, the look on that guys face in that little car when my big truck was coming at him was priceless.

What about using your phone mapping app, Android Auto or CarPlay. It would be up to date and traffic info. I just don’t know how well it would be displayed on your Uconnect screen

Agreed, just use your smartphone. Google maps will ALWAYS be more up to date than OEM nav systems like we have in our Ram's. And it will even warn you of speed traps, traffic jams, etc. I've never even bothered to use the Ram nav in my truck, and I'd sure as heck never pay to update it.

My tuck came with factory nav and I have never updated the maps. I can't justify the cost when a cell phone app is so much better (and free). I typically use Waze.

I keep mine updated and use it all the time and it works great. I like the convenience and the way it integrates with my truck. I prefer it over using my phone in most cases.

I went with a standalone GPS. Can't stand the thought of paying FCA anything for outdated maps, let alone $150 for each update. The last time I considered it, the "updated" maps were still over a year old.

My Nav has been junk since new. I gave up on it early on and use my portable tom tom with free map updates. SAVE YOUR MONEY!

It's amazing to me how many people post that they don't like the factory Nav. Mine honestly works great 90%.of the time and I use it a lot. There are rout options and avoidances that I have set the way I like them plus I keep my Travelink/Traffic subscribed and update my maps. If I compare Waze or Google maps with my factory Nav they almost always run the same route on all three units. To each his own. I do know that a lot of people seem to prefer to use there phones or dash mounted units over the factory Nav.

The reasons I never use the factory nav and prefer Google Maps are:
-Maps are always up to date, for free. When new roads open, they are almost instantly included.
-Traffic info that I don't have to pay to subscribe to.
-I don't have to choose between the map and media screens while driving.
-Warns me of speed traps.

Yip, I totally get it. My Travelink is still free for one more year so I get all the traffic and weather but of course no speed traps ect.

I agree the factory NAV is clunky, and terrible. We stopped using it years ago. The update from FCA is $150. For that you can buy a stand alone GPS with lifetime updates.
