I have a 2013 1500. The Truck wasn’t responding when I put the key in. It works sometimes after turning the key fob in the ignition quite a few times. Dealer said it was the RF hub and quoted $660 for repair. If I get the part myself(the one behind the backseat) do I have to program it and replace the key fob?

Which system do you have
Keyless Entry & Go
or
Fob inserted in the ignition ?
The Keyless Entry & Go has the RF Hub on the rear cab wall
The FOB inserted in the ignition does not use that module on the rear cab wall

FOB inserted into ignition. So if it doesn’t use the RF hub then it’s probably the ignition switch/WIN module itself?

I would assume so, but there are ways to confirm

Both versions of ignition use the RFHub for that year, behind the back seat below the rear window. The Keyless Go variant uses some extra antennae in the vehicle for that keyfob to communicate (ie fob inside the vehicle to allow starting). The FOBIK, or what is called the "pignose" fob that you insert into the ignition module (IGNM) in the dash also has an RFHub. All 2012+ DS Rams use an RFHub, both for the ignition/Driver Authorization as well as communication with the TPM sensors (Tire Pressure). I worked for TRW where we made these parts for FCA. I used to go to the plants to deal with issues (WTAP and Saltillo for Ram and Toledo for Cherokee)

If I wanted to change my "pignose" fob to keyless go would I be able to perform this IF I added the extra antenna & swap the ignition and possibly re write settings in RF hub?

Hi, just bought a 2012 RAM 1500 seems to have RF hub issue. the Key FOBS are not unlocking/locking remote start etc. Batteries are good. Just had them reprogrammed. I removed the rear seat, but no RF Module was on the rear wall. I have the key pushes into the ignition to start. Do you know where the RF HUB would be?

Thank you
