Hello,
I have a 2017 Ram 1500 Limited Crew Cab and am thinking of installing a front camera. Does anyone know if there's a unit capable of being used as a "normal" front camera and also a dash cam?

Essentially they don't make them because the purpose and camera viewing angles serve different purposes.

There are however radio head units that let you select a Camera input as a dash can (records the input).

TLDR: a front camera viewing angle and location makes for a poor dashcam for capturing events.

The Dash Cam part of your enquiry is on my mind.( don't mean to hijak) Will search Forum for suggestions and also check here for any thoughts on what to get.

I think it would be a great combo if we can find anything. I tried looking on here and a couple of other forums but can't find anything. Hopefully, you have better search skills than i do.

As SKB mentioned the viewing angle is key for a dash cam. There are apps for your phone that turn it into a dashcam but the angle is a bit narrow. I have a Rexing V1 Dash cam and am very happy with it. Nice wide angle so it captures the front quarter panel forward. They come with 4K HD and the video is very clear. Had the non-4K one in the truck in FL for 2+ years with no issues. I have had the 4K one in the truck for 1+ years with no issues.
