You want a variable speed and amp Flux welder. I got the Harbor freight Titanium 125 amp flux for similar jobs that I dont want or need GAS for or have 220v. This little guy does a great job for the price and I got it when it was $99 but it has coupons fairly regularly. I use it alot for tack welding and then pull it out and TIG weld it. https://www.harborfreight.com/welding/welders/mig-flux-welders/easy-flux-125-amp-welder-56355.html

For the price any sub $500 MIG will work but you will need to get GAS for it to function and most models at a 150amp or less with have dual 120 and 220v input voltage. The Titanium and Vulcan welders are actually pretty decent but other budget styles can be found at eastwood. I have two TIG's a Mig and the flux... always good to have options!

And what about parts if it breaks & consumables? Stick with name brand on welders.
full parts are available at the stores and online. Also 95% of everything these days are universal so you can get a gun off amazon and be made to work with a lincoln or Miller. I buy no name stuff for my TIGs all the time on amazon... and have upgraded some cheaper MIGs to high end status with all metal MIG gun feeds vs that nylon cr@p. Not a ton of things to break on a welder.. but tips, nozzles, etc can be gotten anywhere even Home depot.

I have two mig welders. One is a 175 amp Lincoln. The other is a Lincoln 100 amp mig that I just got 2 months ago off of FB Marketplace for $100. The first one I run with gas. The 100 amp I run flux core wire in it. I have welded 1/4 inch metal with it. A 140 amp machine would be better suited for your needs. You can weld thicker metal with flux core wire than you can with gas and solid wire according to Lincoln.

THis is correct, flux burns hotter but you blow through more wire. The harbor Freight 125 easy flux is stupid easy to use and the feed chart is spot on. With that 125amp you can weld 1/4" plate no problem as it has been tested on youtube.

We need more pictures of the trailer. That's impressive for a little 110 volt mig
That's a stick welder, not a mig.
For small starter, I would go Mig, it is way easier than a stick welder, I have never uses a 110V stick welder, sounds awful small
You are limited with 110v, I have used small 220v and 100V migs , the 220 v is better for 1/4 in iron, I used gas , gives a way nicer smooth weld, but gas is not for out side in the wind.
I know nothing about Tig, that is what my son now uses in the auto trade

You need to re-read the thread, the fact he used a stick welder wasn't mentioned till after i made that comment.I don't mind being quoted, but if you are going to quote me,at least read the thread, front to back preferably

Like I said the best welder is the one you can afford the benefits of flux over gas is no bottles to fill or run out in the middle of the job gas gives cleaner looking welds but for a beginner like my self flux core is easier than gas or stick ihmo

Well I can tell you I paid $850 for my 220v welder to tig and mig. for a name brand welder I was almost at $3,000 for equal features. as much as I weld and how good I am lol, I can buy almost 4 cheap ones for the same price as a name brand one. The thing will out weld me all day long so as a guy that welds to fix hobby stuff it will do me good for the next 20 years. i have seen more name brand stuff fail in the last 3 years due to material shortage and not just welders.

I got my 140 new for $449. Around me farm and fleet has it on sale a lot.

$255! Holy! I paid $38 to refill my little tank but that was last spring. Not looking forward to when it runs out.
I just filled an 80 cf bottle of C25 mug gas two weeks ago for $76.

Don’t put too much thought in it. Battery, jumper cables and some sticks… it’s that’s easy.
