These are what I run in my '17 and my dad in his '14 projectors for low beam and high beam. They're awesome

I’m shocked by how good these look considering everyone seems to say HID’s in projectors are the way to go. Did you need to do anything with alphaobd or were these straight plug and play ?

I also had run these in my old Ford Fusion prior to this, I also was shocked at how well they worked. They were plug and play, no issues and nothing else needed

So do you run this same bulb in both your low beam and high beams?

And even though it doesn’t look like it on your dash but I’m assuming that in your picture where you’re showing the low beams, you don’t have your fog lights on at the same time? Because it looks like you don’t have any shadows like I do with the LED low beams I’m using.

That’s probably just how it came up in the description because I highly doubt there’s a special 9005 for a Mazda that would be a totally different 9005 for his truck.

Yep, same bulb in low and high's. Only difference is I've got the lows clocked to 12-6 and the highs at 9-3.

That's correct, first picture is lows only with no fogs and second is lows+highs. I have no shadows to speak of. That's the beauty of this particular LED design, the body is thin enough and the chips are in the correct location for them to throw light exactly the same as halogen lights do, just brighter.

So how hard were they getting those into your highbeam sockets being that they’re kind of to the side and underneath the plastic part of the housing?

But where did you hear to clock those in your lowbeam projectors at 12 and 6? Was that something recommended by the place you bought your lights because I’ve always heard people say that whether they’re the lowbeam projectors or the reflector highbeams that you always want them clocked at nine and three…

I bought some 2005 LEDs from a guy on Facebook called Tri-County LED that he said these bulbs that I bought were made for projectors but he also said to clock them at nine and three. I never tried them at 12 and six but now I’m kind of curious if I might get rid of some of the shadows by re-clocking them.

It's a little difficult getting them in and locked but only takes a couple minutes of patience. It's not bad.

I didn't hear it anywhere, that's just where they landed when I installed them. I have lots of experience in retrofitting lights and researching different setups, 12-6 or 9-3 is debated everywhere. It just depends on the housing and bulb. If they didn't work well, I would've rotated them, but they work great where they are so I haven't changed them.

I would certainly try it, nothing to lose except a little time. You may have to trim one or two of the tabs a bit or finagle it in at an angle to get it to fit in the hole and lock but certainly worth a try.

Hmm. I’m pretty happy with the LEDs in got from Sparksmith for my highbeams but as far as the lowbeams, I might try that some weekend, twisting them so that the blades are horizontal instead of vertical. Who knows, maybe that’ll help clear up the shadows being that the projectors are a different animal just despite hearing that LEDs in those should be clocked the same as those for the highbeam reflectors. I’ve also heard that LEDs don’t do so well for projectors and HID are much better but I’m not impressed with HIDs. Too many extra components to mess with and don’t like how the colder the weather makes them take even longer to reach full brightness.

I may be mistaken, but I’ve heard at least once or twice that unless whatever bulbs you use don’t have those little anti-flicker devices on them that’s in line of the wiring that you want to use Alpha OBD to change your headlight to HID… I may be wrong though.

There's a setting for High Intensity Discharge lighting, turn that on.

So in reference to what I said, why would you want to use HID instead of LED through Alpha OBD on your headlight settings?

But OK, does your headlight setting’s really only need to change if you don’t have canbus-friendly LED bulbs or if they have those little square boxes that’s wired in line of those LED’s wiring?

I'm pretty sure you change both. The HID setting eliminates the PWM voltage control which causes the flickering, the LED setting helps stop the bulb out error codes.
I think people usually report more issues if they use LEDs that don't have the built-in CANbus modules.

Unless the headlights have been replaced, before 2016 the projector housing uses 9012 for the low beams, high beams are 9005.
From 2016 on both the high and lows are 9005 bulbs. It might be possible to make a 9005 fit in a 9012 socket.

I just installed 9005 low beam lasfit leds on my 2018 Laramie with projectors. It is my 2nd set of lasfits. The first were 6000 lumens and weren’t that great. I replaced those with the new 7000 lumens and love them. Much brighter, no flicker, instant full brightness and clear alignment markings for positioning. Good price point too.
