Edit: this was more just a frustration post. and maybe see if anyone has solved this for sure. I don't use the feature but can't continue like this and don't want to chase parts that won't fix it.

2019 1500 Classic Warlock. Have had the truck since new and honestly the parksense has hardly ever worked. had it fixed by the dealer once years ago but then more issues caused me to just turn it off at the dash button. (wasn't just 'cleaning' them). It has been off for more than a year with no issues.

last week I drove the truck as normal, no issues. parked for a bit and when I started it back up I started getting both the 'parksense off' and 'parksense needs service' errors on the screen over and over.

It would go away at higher speeds but when slowing down or stopping it would send the messages over and over.

because it is 'off' and I can't turn it back on, I cannot check individual sensors. but I did clean them all, take them each out make sure pins and connections were good. checked for obvious wiring issues. both the outer ones had lots of crap packed into them. cleaned everything up and put it all back together. no difference.

unplugged the rear harness all together and the messages stopped - UNTIL I get over 45kph and then it will bing over and over (and over).... finally after about 15 min it will stop and I can drive in peace. but then it repeats this cycle next time I start the truck.

dealer says they can't (won't) turn it off completely. I don't use it, don't want it. I don't really want to chase down and replace sensors or the wiring (I see posts where this hasn't fixed the issue anyway).

just frustrated. I just want the 'bing' to stop.

If pushing the button turns it off, then that shows the controller is acting correctly, as far as that is concerned. I would almost wager there is a wiring issue to the sensors (bad wire or connection along the way) or a sensor kaput. Mine yells at me when the tailgate is down while in reverse, but I expect that to be correct.

Fuse F95 is for the Park Sense and review camera. Pull fuse and see if it stops. That should give you a place to start.

Then look at the electrical diagrams to see what controls it. Probably the BCM.

AlfaOBD shows "Parktronics: enabled" in my truck. I don't have auto park, so that maybe the ParkSense. Perhaps that can be "disabled" to shut it off.

thanks yes the dash button did shut it off long ago but now it wont do anything as there is a fault somewhere. the rear harness isnt even attached anymore and still get alerts, but instead of at low speed it is at higher speed (but eventually shuts up at least). do you need a pw for alfaOBD? i cant use my scanner for much of anything on this truck because of the security module

What do mean a "PW" ?
You would need a security bypass such as the KaodTech Security Bypass, which seems to be a favorite on this forum. Once the bypass is in, you will have full access.

I use AlfaOBD with a Windoze 11 laptop (eyes getting old and need the bigger screen). I also use the OBDLink MX+ dongle, so the setup is pretty stable and bullet proof.

If you go that route, there are a few of us that are pretty versed in AlfaOBD and can assist in getting you to where you want to go.

pw=password like my current scanner asks for a pw for the gateway. I see the AlfaOBD uses a hardware bypass. I didnt know such a thing existed, I will look further into that thanks

Not really. The '18 and newer vehicles all need the security bypass (some big dollar scanners may use a password) for any scanner to access the system. The AlfOBD does not use a bypass, per se. The vehicle uses the installed aftermarket security bypass, then once installed, the AlfaOBD can then access the modules, as so can any other scanner access thru the bypass.

No, AlfaOBD does not use a password. The software is registered when purchased and then can be used on any Stelantis made vehicle (or with a bypass mod on the newer ones) .

Just for clarification, there are different security bypass types available for 2018+ vehicles.

The inexpensive 12+8 type physically bypasses by using the input/output connections of the SGW and provides a separate OBD2 connection.
While this might be practical for many gen 5 trucks, because the SGW is located beside/behind the OBD2 port, it would be labour-intensive for gen 4 trucks, where the SGW is stashed behind the radio or EVIC. This version has to be removed before warranty or dealership visits.

The green box SGW bypass dongle type is a physical bypass that replaces the SGW.
This bridges the SGW input/output connections.
This will allow use of the OE OBD2 port as it was intended, and the same as pre 2018 vehicles.
If your warranty has expired, this might be a good solution, or gen 5 owners could R&R before dealership visits.

The KaodTech connects directly into the CAN bus ports beside/behind the OBD2 port and provides an alternate unencrypted OBD2 port.
Install it and forget it. I leave mine coiled up behind the dash.

The KaodTech will not allow access to engine diagnostic functions.

I chased a park sense intermittent error for years until I happened to be doing a bumper swap. I found the culprit, in my case it was a bit of green crust on one of the connectors. Cleaned it up and the issue all but disappeared, only the occasional warning that goes away quickly. I'm sure if I were to ohm each wire, I might identify where the corrosion has spread to.
I do appreciate the tech features on this truck, but when there are gremlins popping up, I miss the analog days of carbs points tuning by ear....

I got tired of having the tunes interrupted by the ParkSense and disabled the setting in the radio.
Backing into the barn was far too beepy and annoying.

I have 2 mirrors and a backup camera. The ParkSense isn't required 99% of the time, AFAIC.
Maybe if I had the front ParkSense feature, I might use it a bit more often.

YMMV

i agree. dont want or need it. if something is wrong, alert me when in reverse no problem. why squack at me constantly while on the highway?

This item from AlfaOBD might be interesting.

AlfaOBD Parktronics.jpg

According to AI, the Parktronics module controls the ParkSense feature.

This item has a sensor wiring test.

AlfaOBD Parktronics system wiring test.jpg

I also find it interesting that this test indicates it normally runs while the vehicle is moving.
This might explain why it pesters you only when rolling at highway speed.

I think it might be worth reviewing the sensor connections and wiring again.

If that proves to be unproductive, you might try hot-wiring the Parktronics module, but I would save that idea.

Odd wording... The parksense should ONLY be operational while in drive or neutral, not parked.

My front or rear park sense will beep immediately upon truck being put in gear in the garage, moving or not. Sooo that statement is not accurate

I saw somewhere that the front system should be disabled after a certain (very low like a walking) speed, and the rear stays active while in reverse.

What part of the wording looks odd to you?

I'm sure there are many other irregular English derivations sprinkled throughout AlfaOBD.
And let's not even think about AI oddities.

I just had mine go out (Rear). I used JScan to locate the error code, something “8”. The sensors are numbered 1-6 on the front starting from the front driver’s side. There isn’t a #7, 8 picks up on the rear passenger side and ends at 11 on the rear driver’s side. I replaced the #8 sensor and all worked again. It should be either a sensor, bad connection or issue with the wires. You can inspect the wire harness as it runs right along the bumper.

after a new harness and one new sensor it is 'working'. and at least now I can just turn it off without litening to endless 'bings' while I am driving. ironically, while the parksense icon comes up on the display and shows how close objects are, it doesnt make any noise at all. such a troublesome feature.
