Ram Riding and Handling absolutely terrible!

Understood at last after all this research and education from the forum. ( I am contacting KYB as an interim solution as Kurek suggested) However: To correct control arm qeometry and do correctly: 1) Remove improperly installed lift kit. 2) Replace the lift kit with a 3-4" lift and start...

Ram Riding and Handling absolutely terrible!

Finally got appointment today to bring the truck---so it can be assessed in person--- to experienced off-road suspension shop, BDR Auto here in Mass. Owner Brian (who owns a Ram) drove truck and agreed that there were issues with ride and geometry wrong, as Kurek correctly indicated. Then put it...

Ram Riding and Handling absolutely terrible!

That NOW explains at last Kurek, that slamming into the bumpstop is the best description for the ride issue...and as you aptly said, "It takes only a sliver of curiosity to consider what other parts might be affected by that arrangement." Thank you. How about a photo from anyone on WHAT A...

Ram Riding and Handling absolutely terrible!

Following along Augiedoggy and Kurek here to better understand the problem/solution. The move toward OEM 4 ply tires and airing to 38lbs was in the right direction ride-wise at least on the I-93... however will have to go back to C or D tires when I resume towing my TT.

Ram Riding and Handling absolutely terrible!

Thank you for the specs Kurek on the eco-diesel specs; I see where you were going on weight...however since there are as many solutions on this forum as there are worldwide undergarment designs, I was most interested ---educationally, as I am not a mechanic but a regular film-tech guy---in...

Ram Riding and Handling absolutely terrible!

Hi Augiedoggy, Just back from 300 trip up on highways and secondary roads. Ride is much better...not feeling every tarstrip...quiet and fuel mileage up to 23.5 mpg from 20. I have not sorted out or replaced the struts up forward or shocks in rear as I am still not sure where and how much must be...

No air suspension: Now Poor Ride Quality Issues

Thanks Hodge-xj, BDS 6" lift is what's been confirmed from BDS. I have not set a budget as yet looking to correct previous owners not-so-great choices. Currently, until I sort out the suspension issues, I found OEM Goodyear 4 ply tires and replaced the 12 ply Nittos so at least the truck is...

Ram Riding and Handling absolutely terrible!

Going to the OEM 4 Ply tires is an in-expensive solution--- mount and balance only--- until I sort out the suspension.

Ram Riding and Handling absolutely terrible!

Agreed j-b. I've always had load range c or d on previous trucks. It's highway driving without towing my 3500 lb trailer until spring so I have time to accurately "cure" the ride. Contacted Nick. Thanks.

Ram Riding and Handling absolutely terrible!

Heh Guys, Did an experiment on the path to suspension issues: I realized that I am running nitto 305 55 20 Grapplers. Aggressive tires for sure. THEY ARE 12 PLY. Totally overkill at 60 lbs a tire as well. I found a set of OEM Goodyear Wrangler 275 60 20s with under 10k miles on them, which are...

Ram Riding and Handling absolutely terrible!

In the ongoing search for a reasonable but properly done fix, this past weekend I brought the RAM to a well regarded shop in northern NH that does much work installing plows and on pick-ups using logging roads. After explaining the ride issues and suspension kaffufles, (not the fault of the RAM...

No air suspension: Now Poor Ride Quality Issues

Are there any 1500 Eco-Diesel owners happy with conversion from air, and what struts, shocks and coils worked? I've been trying to correct the poor work and cheap components previously done on mine and looking for realistic solution. Many have weighed in on the 4th gen forum thread, however with...

Ram Riding and Handling absolutely terrible!

Spoke with Eibach and Pro-Comp today. The techs asked which coil springs on the truck as they agree thats a major issue. See photo. I wasn't able to determine maker despite the branding. Eibach seems to think their kit, E-80-27-001-03-22 would work. Asked to send photos. The question was the...

Ram Riding and Handling absolutely terrible!

I use the truck to pull a 5000 lb camper (500 lb hitch weight) mostly New England highways summer and winter. Planning to go xcountry next summer with camper. Secondary roads terrible with frost heaves pretty much launching the Ram as well as the fillings in my teeth. Off roading on logging...

"Slamming off the bumpstops at each crack in the road." You nailed it. Any specifics on aftermarket strut kits that would solve this?

Ram Riding and Handling absolutely terrible!

The Canadian(s) who according to the carfax bought the truck and did the modifications in Quebec obviously did a poor job and used inferior components. I don't blame Ram. Challenge now is to do this right within reason. I did contact manufacturer about the recalls done and the diesal lawsuit. I...

Agreed. Trying to undo BAD work, find the problem and do this right within financial resources and reason. That's the challenge and why I am at this site with all the experience out there.

Thanks Kurek, will run this all by my mechanic for estimate on labor. Have any forum members reading suggestions gone this route? What's been the result on the ride? Thanks again, very helpful toward getting the ride character enjoyable.

Ram Riding and Handling absolutely terrible!

Hi, Back from my mechanic where we put the truck on the lift. He confirmed that there IS A 4" LIFT. (How the suspension shop in NH stated there is no lift is beyond comprehension) Rear Shocks are Monroe Reflex Struts are Masterpro His Recommendation ---Go back to OEM with airbags or ---Get...

I wrote to Nick at Freedom Motorsport, appreciate his response---included below--- and tomorrow I will take photos of under the truck when it's up on the lift and I can try and determine the brands of aftermarket parts. My answers are in BOLD. I forgot to add that the airbag system obviously...
