Recommended Jack for 6" lift Truck

My Ram is lifted 6” and the factory jack lifts it enough to change a tire. Also the factory 18” spare will fit on a front corner. Not pretty but enough to get my butt off the side of the road. Just stuff I tried when I got the truck to make sure I could self rescue with what was provided or know...

2023 Bighorn 5.7L first oil change

Changed the oil Wednesday on my 2019 I bought a couple months ago, what a sharp pain in the testicles! I installed a Fumoto on the sump to hopefully help minimize mess in that area and it’s easier to flip a valve than keep breaking out a wrench or socket. For the filter I used the gallon size...

2021 Dodge Ram 1500 starts and drives without key FOB

I cant even start mine standing outside the truck with the fob in my pocket using my hands to push the pedal and hit the button. There is likely another fob somewhere in the truck. In a rural area, I "might" tape one on the backside of one of the dash panels, similar to what I may have done with...

Soft covers - theft a problem?

I run a soft Xcover and had a soft cover on my previous truck for a couple years. I haven’t had an issue. When I installed the soft cover on the Tundra my wife voiced concern about the vinyl. My response was the “out of sight, out of mind” line and I mentioned that if you kept valuables inside...

Just returned and question about media center

Hey Guys, I was a member here years and years ago and have owned Ford and Toyota since. Thursday I purchased a 2019 Big Horn with 58,000 miles on it. It has a 6” lift on 37” Wildpeaks. No running boards but I ordered some in short order, along with rubber floor liners, a bedcover, drop trailer...

    oil and filter

I would rather have a leak with added protection then sludge build up. If it leaks it's a bad seal that needs repairing anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    oil and filter

Always ran 5-30 synthetic Mobil 1 in my 4.7 with either a Mobil 1 or Mopar filter in southeast Louisiana. 174,000 miles and no oil related problems. As far as fram filters go, they aren't horrible, there are just better filters for cheaper. Fram builds a $1.50 filter and wants $5 or more for it...

Well had some engine trouble today.

If you have a local Napa around you, they have Zerex G-05 which is an HOAT coolant and cheaper option then the Mopar stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    best engine oil?

I run Mobil 1 in both of my trucks. I would use Amsoil but I wanted something readily available on a store shelf that I don't have to buy in bulk. Oh and my Ram has almost 174,000 and the F150 has 112,000 miles on the clock. No harm in running synthetics in either. Sent from my iPhone using...

Probably best that you didnt end up with this truck anyway, especially if the owner is of that mentality. x2 on posting pics of the new prospect!

    Hello! and a Question

A clunk over bumps could also be ball joints. These can be checked by, well, after you change your struts take it in for an alignment. They will tell you if any other components are bad. Meanwhile, while you have the front end in the air changing other stuff, grab your tires at the 12 and 6...

    what would cause this?

There is a bleed screw to do it the "right" way. This has never worked for me though. What I normally do is park the truck with the nose as high as I can get it. Let it cool off and remove the radiator cap. Top off the fluid and run the truck with the cap off until it reaches normal operating...

Are all Oil filters the same ?Are you just paying for a name or brand?

I either use Mobil 1 in both trucks or Mopar for my Ram and Motorcraft for my F150. I don't guess it would matter much what I run on there as I dump the oil (Mobil 1 as well) every 5k anyhow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

trading for an 02 anything i need to look for?

May I ask what problems you are having with your truck that make you regret owning it? It seems that in the past 6 months my truck has given me more problems then in the almost 4 years I have owned it combined. It started with the heater core, then the brake booster, air conditioning compressor...

    anybody running this muffler?

Thanks Talon. I like it. When I first had it installed it sounded almost stock. It took almost 5-8,000 miles before it really started to rumble.

trading for an 02 anything i need to look for?

Just off the top of my head, some I have experienced, some I have read about and hope not to experience: Check the cooling system thoroughly to see if it has been kept up. The 4.7 liter does not deal with heat well, and are known for one redline to cause a leaking head gasket or warped head. The...

anyone use nitrile gloves, how do you keep clean

I never used to use them, then grew tired of having grease stains on my hands and under my nails at a nice occasions days after doing any kind of work. On a whim I picked up a pack of 5 pair at Advance Auto and loved them, so I picked up another box at Wally World. I'm still working on the box...
