My first post is for a tranny issue. Changed sparkplugs, serpentine belt, and tranny filters and fluid. Got her all back together. Measured the amount of old fluid I took out of the transmission and that's how much I put back in. Took it for a test drive when I was done, about 15miles. I checked the fluid level twice and fluid showed on the dip stick at the low HOT hole. Figured all was good. Shifted well in all gears I manually ran trough, so I parked it.

Today, I went to drive it and it will not move in any gear, R, D, 2, or 1.

What's going on?

Any help appreciated.

When you changed the flat filter in the transmission did you change out the seal and seat it into the trans housing itself or just slip it on the filter and bolt the filter in?

I made sure I removed to old seal (was in there tight!) and the new seal was already on the flat filter. I lined it up and applied upward pressure and even tapped it with the palm of my hand to seat it. It looked to be seated.

It come loose maybe?

Thanks for the speedy input.

You have to remove the new seal from the stem of the new flat filter and install the seal separately into the transmission housing. Don't know why some are shipped that way??? Anyways, the way you installed the seal is incorrect and you lost the prime. Use a deep socket the same diameter as the outside of the seal and tap into the transmission case, install the flat filter with a tap of your palm, torque the Torx head filter screw to 50 in lbs and you should be good to go.

Does about 6.5 quarts sound about right for a filter change?

6.5 qts sounds right, mine took almost 8 but it depends on how much you get out. Fill and check, repeat, without over filling.
