i have an 08 dodge ram with the 4.7 that i just bought about 2 weeks ago. so far i really like it. i went and had my muffler taken off and dumped right before the rear axle. with the exuast loud now i can realize that some times you can hear the exuast and sometimes you can barely hear it at idle. when i first start it it idles at about 1000-1200 rpm then after a little bit it idles down or when i put it in drive or reverse it idles down. in drive sometimes you can notice a VERY slight surge. doesnt seem to have much power. maybe only because i got into this after getting out of driving a 400hp diesel everyday? what could be causing this? any help would be greatly appreciated! changing a differential bearing this week because i have one howling so if i can find out whats wrong with it to be doing this i would also like to fix this at the same time!

only with the electronic tb's. Look into a throttle position sensor also. But def clean the tb and do copper core plugs. I run vpower ngks in my dodges.

some backpressure in the exhaust will probably solve all your problems. diesels run fine without a muffler but a gas v8 with no muffler just sounds cool and thats about it. No back pressure= No power. If your changing just 1 diff bearing then you might as well do them all while youre in there. if youve never done a chrysler 9.25 rear end, i dont recommend it. theyre not like a gm or ford with shims, these have collars to adjust the backlash and need a special tool. I did mine and it was no walk in the park

I run the same plugs. Yeah I noticed a little difference when I cleaned it but nothing crazy. My truck wasn't acting up so there wasn't much difference. I was just looking for something to do and learn something new because it was the first time doing it.

i have 08 4.7 65k. i changed all plugs (16) at 62k the stock ones were still clean. i swapped to iridium denso. put a muffler on the truck itll run better. as for the idle when i crank mine cold itll idle high then slowly come down to about 7-800 (1-2minutes) dependant on temp outside. when its fully warm it sits round 5-600.i just hooked up the superchip flashpaq on the 91 tune and it definalty made a good diffirent in power with 35 inch tire and lift. but if ur coming from 400 hp this would definalty feel like a dog compared to that. this a heavy truck. take out the spare tire to save a lil weight. i know after im done with these nitto trail grappler 10 ply tires im goign with 6 ply or something lighter. having a big mean lookn truck is cool and all but it needs to have balls too lol. your 08 should have like 310hp stock. give it a tune up change all the fluids too. oil, trans, rear diff, coolant. as far as throttle respone there is a lot of dead pedal in my truck too. like i can slowlt press the pedal and nothing happens, then once it hits a point itll rev up and go.. not really feeling that, would like a little more control. the flashpaq seemed to smooth out the gear changes too
