I am having an issue with my 1987 Dodge D100. The steering is unpredictable and darting. I bought this truck around two years ago. When I bought it I was led to believe that the compliance box was messed up and therefore it couldn’t be driven safely over 30 miles an hour. When I got it home I changed out the compliance assembly and realized pretty quickly that the guy that sold me the truck was full of it. Since then I have replaced the center link, tie rods, idler arm, front springs, wheels and tires, along with most of the drive train and cooling system. After all of that I thought that an alignment would finally fix the issue but it didn’t. The steering is weird. I can drive straight some times and I will go to make a small turn of the wheel to avoid a pot hole or something and. The truck wants to head towards the ditch. I turn the other way a little to correct and it was to dart the other way. The power steering also sometimes steers nice and easy and sometimes pretty hard. It is also worth noting that it appears that the driver side front tire seems to want to fold under when I turn hard and it really scrubs the road to the point of leaving black marks on the road when I try to turn sharp. Any thoughts on what the issue could be? I appreciate in advance any help I can get.
