14 R/T 8.4an, sub, amp & custom sub box, not happy with sound. PICS

I decided to add a set of sub-woofers to the R/T i used Audiocontrol Lc2i and tapped the front speakers at the factory amplifier under the dash. Some songs have an overwhelming amount of bass and sound great white other tracks that normally would have decnt bass sound flat and i can hear vocals coming trough the sub-woofers. Will replacing the Lc2i with something like JL audios cleansweep help??

Equipment:

(1) Rockford Fosgate P1000x1bd mono amp.
(2) Rockford Fosgate 12" 4 ohm P3 subwoofers wired for 1 ohm load
(1) Audiocontrol Lc2i

as for the hook ups.. is your factory head the alpine? i havent played with the alpine in my new truck, but a few years ago i had an '11 durango and it had the alpine in it. i have better success for sound to tap into the factory sub for the signal into a LOC. at that time i was just using a basic 4channel LOC from wally world also.

I am pretty sure the front doors on the Alpine system are not full range signals. You would do better to tap into a sub output from the amp. I don't think changing the LOC yet will help you, just need to tap into the right signal for the frequencies you need.

Also make sure your rockford amp is set to LP (low pass) for filter and frequency should be around the 80-100 depending on how it sounds to you.

I'm thinking you are getting 100hz+ frequency going to the sub and the times you are hearing good bass on songs is actually good mid bass.

I would try the amp settings first and if you set it to 80hz and the sub doesn't play anything anymore you'll know you need to tap your input from somewhere else (either sub for dedicated bass frequency or rear doors for full signal.)

I been reading throughout multiple threads all night and it looks like none of the speakers in the alpine system have a full range signal. Someone summed the front speakers and the rear speakers all together to achieve a full range signal using the same LOC, I might give that a try.

I am getting 1.21 cu ft per chamber, I looked up the specs and per the manufacturer they suggest 0.75 - 1.25 range of cu ft for sealed enclosures so I am pretty happy about the results.

There's no point in summing inputs for just a sub. Tie into whichever speaker has the low range, if no sub out is available from the amp then go with the rear door. You are going to block everything above around 100hz anyways with the RF amp.

I ended up playing with the amp settings lowering the frequency at the amp and was able to eliminate the vocals from the subs. I looked tried the rear inputs for the LOC and they sounded worse, I believe the alpine system in the Ram R/T has no full range signal in any of the speakers. I am happy with the bass now but I still think it could be better at sometimes I feel like it sounds slightly muddy and could be sharper.

I tapped the front door speakers, or at least i hope i did.

The way that I have done it was tapping into the front door speakers after the amp into a loc and it worked flawlessly. Double check and make sure they are not the dash speakers you tapped into and also like they said, make sure you check your amp settings.

There really needs to be a thread stickied telling people NOT to buy Alpine equipped trucks if they want to upgrade their sound.

I think 1/4 of this section is filled with people wondering why their Alpine upgrades went south.

If you hear vocals you don't have your crossover set up correctly, it should be around 80-100 and below typically with subs Turn the LO PASS on on your amp and your vocals will go away, Also even though you probably wont want to I would try and wire the subs in series to bring your subs to a higher resistance load, It will be better for your amp and a probably sound a lot better. Obviously Your signal could be an issue but that has been well versed as a possible problem already.

I went and double checked to make sure I had the front door speakers I tapped into the black plug on the alpine amp under the dash the following wires:

LF Speaker (+) Gray/Violet Wire
LF Speaker (-) Gray/Yellow Wire
RF Speaker (+) DK Green/Violet Wire
RF Speaker (-) DK Green/Yellow Wire

I have been playing with the amp settings and I was able to get rid of the vocals lowering the crossover as it was maxed out on the amp i brought it down to 80.

I may look into getting a sound processor to attempt to improve the sound.

I have been considering getting the box wrapped in black vinyl with silver stitching to match the seats, the only reason i went with paint was cause I had the material left over.

This definitely helped the setting on the amp was maxed out.
