Check Youtube videos before doing anything drastic
I would consider Pinning it, causing deformed threads
the 2009 - 2010 pinion nuts had some issues
In 2009 they some how forgot to install something called a Adhesive PATCH during assembly
Chrysler tells it differently:
Manufacturer: Chrysler Group LLC
SUMMARY:
Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 Ram 1500 trucks, certain model year 2009-2011 Dakota trucks, certain model year 2009 Chrysler Aspens, and certain model year 2009 Dodge Durangos. The rear axle pinion nut may loosen due to an undersized pinion spline that can allow relative motion between the nut and companion flange.
CONSEQUENCE:If the rear axle pinion nut loosens, the axle can lock up and cause a loss of vehicle control and/or a vehicle crash with little warning.
REMEDY:Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install a pinion nut retainer, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during March 2013. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753.
NOTES:This campaign is an expansion of a recall campaign 12V-474. Chrysler's recall campaign number is N08. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to

The strange thing about that above claim, is that in 2009 & 2010 Ram 1500s, the rear differentials were made by AAM
In 2011, the rear differentials were made by ZF

WASHINGTON — Chrysler is recalling an estimated 278,222 vehicles, including the 2009-'12
Ram 1500 and 2009-'11
Dodge Dakota because the rear axle pinion nut may loosen at the differential and cause a loss of vehicle control, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The recall also includes the
2009 Chrysler Aspen and
2009 Dodge Durango.
"The rear axle pinion nut may loosen due to an omission of an adhesive patch," said NHTSA in its summary of the problem. "If the rear axle pinion nut loosens, the axle can lock up and cause a loss of vehicle control and/or a vehicle crash with little warning."
Chrysler told federal safety regulators there are approximately 15 reports of accidents and no reports of minor injuries related to the recall.
This is an extension of an earlier recall of Chrysler vehicles for the same issue.
Dealers will install a pinion nut retainer. The recall is expected to begin in March. Owners can contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753.
