The screw on my battery retaining clamp broke. It was corroded to the nut(threaded insert) in the battery box. I'm trying to avoid taking out the whole battery box. Is it possible to replace the nut? it feels like there might be a hex head on the bottom side. It would be great if it unscrews or could be driven out and a new one pushed in.

This is in a 2018 Ram 1500 Bighorn with the 5.7L V8. (Driver side battery)

Any info would be appreciated. I might be able to tell from a picture if no one knows for sure.

I gave up and took out the battery tray. I'm sure someone else will have the same problem. In this model the hold-down nut is molded into the battery tray. I was able to get the broken screw out after soaking it with an anti-corrosion spray.

A Riv-nut might replace the corroded insert.

(or you can poor-boy it with a rubber bungee). ;)
